Aquamist HFS-4 install
I recently purchased the Aquamist HFS4 kit from Protuningfreaks and finally got around to installing it. I chose this kit because I’m flash only and when you add all the features and items that you get its worth it. Mods are in my sig and I will be getting a ptf protune shortly, but this thread is just to help others with some alternatives and insight on install methods that I’ve come across during my research.
My controller is mounted like many others in the glove box. It’s actually behind the glove box panel that is used to access the fuses. From there I shrink wrapped and routed the power harness to the front cigarette lighter harness under the center console. This provides the +12, ground, and Dim needed for the guage. (Pics coming soon) The ECU and User harness were routed the same way as the JB4 usb cable through the firewall directly into the DME box. Most likely your kit will come with the posi-taps and those make it easy to tie into the dme wires. (Pics coming soon) I mounted my gauge on the dash as seen in the pics and routed to cable under the dash board to the glove box. I also used this route for the FAV and Flow sensor harness and passed them through a grommet on the driverside firewall. The Trunk harness was routed along the passenger side under the doorsills and to the trunk. I have my pump and tank mounted on the driverside of the trunk. My tank placement may change because I thought the DO tank would fit perfect in the corner with the pump mounted to it. I guess the e90 trunks are not like the e92s that I’ve seen where the tank is mounted. I wanted to be different and decided to plug my power cable for the pump harness directly into the distribution block on top of the battery. You will need to buy the2 pole socket housing and flat-type connector, which were a couple of bucks at the dealer. The 6mm hose was ran through the vent on the side panel and comes out behind the rear bumper. Then I zip-tied it to the fuel line and ran it underneath the car up to the engine bay. The FAV is mounted to the power steering bracket. I tapped into my ER CP right after the elbow for one nozzle while the other is tapped into the intercooler outlet pipe. PTF suggested this way for cooler iats and better atomization. Well that’s my install and I hope it will help others with theirs. All in all it wasn’t as hard as I thought it was going to be. Now I’m waiting to get the meth map from PTF to take full advantage of the kit.

Thanks for sharing this. One day, I will install a meth kit on this car. (after rb's & clutch..)
Did you find the posi-taps fairly non-invasive to the ecu harness. Curious if anyone had just piggy-back hardness to tap into so the ecu wires would not be modified at all. |

it's a methanol kit, probably the best on the market.
Lowers IATs, allows you to hush the comp tables, raises octane which is a nice benefit. IF you do it right it allows for more consistent power, especially in hot climates.

What's $1300? I didn't pay anything near that much for everything.

Depends on tank and if you go with stainless steel lines and 4AN fittings.

With SS lines, AN taps and fittings and 90 deg bends etc, the tank...Yea $1,300 sounds about right. Maybe a bit less.
