Repaired Cracked Wheels ... Will they last?

Just wondering if a repaired cracked wheel will last if it's been repaired by a decent repairer?

Part of me is thinking that the wheel should actually be stronger around the weld as more metal has been addesd but the other part is thinking that once a wheel is cracked it will all ways have a weak spot in that area.

Any ideas?

IMO they are rubbish. You might not know if it's ok until it's too late.

My pal has been welding BMW wheels for many years now.
Local tyre shops and dealers in Plymouth bring them to him.
Never had a failure yet...

But of course you need a decent welder in the first place.

The fewer the welds in one wheel the stronger it will be if it has 4 cracks or 5 in one the likely hood is it will crack again before one with a single crack will

I had 2 fronts welded, changing at the same time to NRFs. a year and 5000 miles later I noticed one weld had re-opened and the other wheel had a fresh crack.

It was time to replace with after-market wheels.

Just posted about this very topic so I'll copy it here.

Getting this done is neither easy nor cheap. Not many outfits are capable of this kind of repair and you'd be looking at £85+ per wheel and that's without finishing.
