Possible changing interior trims??

Hi, Just new to the forum guys + girls!

been a long time reader here

I am looking for a 335i coupe but many have silver trim or other trim which really not my taste ( no offence )

and my queston is,, isit possible to buy the paino black trim from bmw and change them??

Hi Alan.

I think it is a possibility but i think you are looking at a small fortune to do it through BMW main stealer.
Friend of mine just took all the trim off and vinyl wrapped the lot himself in a black finish as he had the wood trim and wanted the same as you.
But that depends how skilled you are with plastic and a hairdryer.

Thanks for the info i guess i stick to finding the right one then,, i dont want to do it myself as past DIY ended up terrible XD and if bmw will cost me over 1000 to do it then i dont see any point,,

I am in the process of carrying out the same changes and I have been trying to buy 2nd hand piano black trim, but it's been vitually impossible.

I bought some trims from a breaker for £17 for everything and I am having them painted in piano black, currently they are not finished and I will update the thread when I get them back my stock trims I'm going to wrap in the carbon material then decide what looks best

My car had Piano black, but I wanted silver so the dealer swapped the trim for another car they had in stock. So, maybe, if you find the car you want, the dealer will do the same for you in order to get the deal.

Thats probably because Piano Black is more desirable so you were doing them a favour

I've done it. I went for the high gloss black interior.

Bought all the bits from my dealer (circa £450). There is a DIY for it somewhere. Took me about 2 hours.

Thats very nice looking, got me thinking now, I might have to speak to my friendly paint sprayer again. If its done by a pro, it will be just as durable if not more durable than genuine BMW finish. My friend used to do this job for BMW Mini basically plastic trims painted all sorts of colours......

well done mate, I bet you can even drive around with the trims out while they are being done, just reconect the switches up

It actually seems to take the normal wear & tear better than the original gray poplar had. It will scratch just as the exterior paint would.

If you have this done then be sure to have the shop use a "fill" primer before the base/clear coat. Really helps the overall quality of the finish.

Yes, it doesn't look very tidy inside, but you are able to drive without tthe trim being installed.

I've never liked the silver plastic that became the rage in nearly all cars. It was the same with TVs, DVD players etc. Thank goodness we have gone back to the darkside!
