Tires were just a wee bit too wide with 9", decided to stick with the rim width of the rear 286 and 216 wheels I was running previously. Might work for you though, no idea really. Probably would work in the back but I'm running square and it's really tight in the front.

Oh I don't know about that...
When you stomp on it to get on the freeway and the throttle closes to protect the engine and won't respond for a fraction of a second with traffic bearing down on you quickly it'll scare the ever lovin shit outta ya. And the traction control is so bad I wonder who the hell wrote the code and if there were old enough to drive. It's the anti-BMW. Maybe they improved it but recent loaners don't seem a whole lot better and a helluva lot cheaper looking. Way way overpriced imho.

It'd jump, still does sometimes, if the gas pedal was depressed a small amount but the faster I stomped on it the faster that jump would collapse to what felt like a dying engine that would suddenly leap back to life, sorta. Very screwed up and it got worse keeping the trans in sport mode. Very unpredictable and just a serious pita. The 328i otoh just had a shitty throttle response that didn't get worse but it didn't get better either. Felt like a vastly underpowered car in comparison especially with that really sloppy clutch and work-of-the-devil dual mass flywheel (who thinks this crap up anyway?). It wasn't until the AA tune fixed the throttle problem did the car start to feel like I would expect it to. It's hard to describe and may be purely a function of that MY G but it's been flashed and updated over the years and still isn't quite right. I'll take the 328i in its current state with a 6MT (and a real clutch with a non-half-ass flywheel) any day over the G just because the stupid software the mfg's lawyers saddle the buyer with have been largely eliminated in the 328i.

The datalogger can be used to find a rolling start to 60 time and a rolling start to quarter mile time I suppose but I haven't tried it as these numbers don't mean anything to me in any comparative sense. I couldn't begin to guess at times as I don't race light to light and have never been to a drag strip or attempted quarter mile runs in any car.

It's very interesting to see how it changes with the LSD final ratio change as well as different effective loaded tire radii. A similar set of numbers can be generated for a 335i and times compared, roughly, as well as relative road thrust at given speeds in given gears. It's also possible to show the increase in time due to short shifting which is important to know on the track for where it can help and where it can hurt. So while 0-60 times aren't of any interest in real world comparisons the theoretical time is since it can be compared to published numbers for the stock car as well as the 335i for instance although that's a flawed comparison to say the least. But it's helpful in comparative studies of where the torque curve is falling down in providing continued acceleration at higher speeds and thus led directly to estimating how much added torque might be unlocked with cams and leaning out the top end along with increasing the redline. The book Fast Car Physics is helpful here if the techniques are unfamilar, excellent book in understanding what the car can and cannot do, etc.

gear ratio spreadsheet
No promises it's accurate or even useful, should be self-explanatory though. Only marginally useful for comparing changes as the calculations don't take into account a lot of other variables which makes this a way to compare idealized conditions, not real world conditions. The numbers then represent impossible to achieve best case results. FWIW, YMMV, etc.

Hey guys just wanted to update everyone on what im doing to my car. So as of Today i will be installing my AA headers with 3 stage intake manifold and AA tune for my car. Should be a interesting setup once everything is on and buttoned up.
A couple days ago we did a couple pulls with my stock car vs a C250 with a tune from a dig and from a 30 roll. From the dig his tune pulled on me. from the 30 roll is was so close it would have to been reviewed by a slomo camera. I think with my Tune and headers and goodies ill smash on him. How ever i want to share what i'm doing to the 328i. Ill post some videos of what everything sounds like and feels like. Should be a good old time though. |

The 3 intake push above 4000 rpm should give you the edge and the power gain all around the rpm band with the headers should give you an even bigger advantage |
