PDX-5 + trunk sub = SEX!!!! WOW this is amazing --WITH PICS!

So, I got my stereo all done up today in the 335. Logic 7. I decided to just do a PDX-5 and amp the front components and underseat subs and use the sub channel for my IDMAX 12. The PDX ended up putting out 93w rms x 4 and 346 to the sub. The sub is a 1000w rms but its EXTREMELY efficient. It slams on the sub pretty damn good.

I have all the gains turned down all the way, and have the front speakers running full range since they are already crossed over. I have the underseat subs running 60hz HP (thus creating a bandpass situation) and the sub at 60hz LP. WOW does this system amaze!! Midbass is now there, although, could be a little more tight (will seal up the enclosures underseats at a later time) and the low end is now ALIVE!! I have the sub facing to the rear right up next to the seats. Im going to end up having a custom box built I think later on as well to free up some space, as it stands there is NO WAY golf clubs would fit in there, haha, but, because of how it is set up, I could actually run the underseat subs at their range and take the sub out and its just an amped system, lol.

Bottom line, just get 2 LOC's, 1 cutting into front speakers and one cutting into the subs, run them to the PDX-5.

Essentially what I have is a 3 way system in the front now. It sounds sooo smooth and killer. The stock speakers really do come alive with some more juice. I have the LOC's adjusted half way and with it like I have, the balance front to rear is maintained just fine. I have all functions of steering controls and everything. I just need to dial it in a bit with the Logic 7 eq, but should be fine.

All in all, I am extremely pleased. I will post the pics of the setup tomorrow when its light out.

Oh yea, the PDX-5 is sitting right where the cd-changer would go, above the stock amp. Cranking on this thing the amp doesnt even get warm.

I am VERY happy with the setup!!

Since

Here are some I just snapped. Again, very clean install.

Image Dynamics make great subs. Their IDQ's are some of the best for sound quality. They are up there with the JL w6, Critical Mass UL12, and Re audio xxx. Great little system. One wuestion though, why did you use a sealed enclosure? Sealed enclosures are good for response, but as far as output goes, there are many more efficient designs that could maximize the efficiency of your woofer. An IDQ in a 1/4 wave transmission line would have been Still a nice system though.

Its an IDMAX actually. I have had it in that same box for about 6 years now. I dont need anymore output then it already gives. Trust me, it is LOUD. The great thing about ID products is their efficiency. A little power gets them moving quite well.

Looks good! Is that the CD Changer bracket that you are using to hold the PDX-5?

Looks like Hal 9000. Does it talk to you? "Open the trunk door Hal. Sorry Dave, I can't do that!" hahaha

Its basically the bracket for where the 6cd changer goes. The amp actually SLIDES into place for the most part. It was there stock, and I never had the 6cd changer, it just came like that. Sorry I cant be more helpful then that. I was lucky in that is how my car came.

Oh it bangs...even with the ~450rms or so its getting. Super efficient. I was going to put a custom box/enclosure in for it but ya know for what I need, it wasnt worth it, plus that box is built amazingly for it and no need to change it out.

I do wish I had it back on my MDX 750rms amp, but oh well. The underseat subs help a ton and EQ'd and tuned on the amp just right it does what it needs to be doing...non-directional deep bass.

I heard some good things about the Alpine PDX amp,

Is there a power source in the trunk, or do you have to run 4 gauge from the engine bay?

What speakers did you use?

HaHa, true story

Actually it's the girlfriends car, and we've only had it a month.

We've done a couple of cosmetic upgrades, but now it's time to hit the audio system, so I'm researching.

I actually own a 370Z NISMO, which I just upgraded the audio this weekend.
(Alpine Head Unit, Polk Components, Rockford Fosgate Punch amp and Sub)

Thanks for the info

wow nice i like me some 370! and i didn't mean to sound like a dick, sorry.

but yes, the battery is located inside the trunk on the right, there is a tray that removes to reveal the battery.

PM me if you ever have any questions about the car. I recently did a complete overhaul so its fresh on my mind.

Stock logic 7 speakers. They are actually pretty decent quality drivers, they sound fantastic with some more power to them (hence my amp upgrade).

I do wish I could have done some morels and a proper EQ system but that money has been spent on other mods
