Injector question

My car is at the dealer and has one bad injector on cylinder 3 the dealer quoted me 590 plus tax to replace one injector and programmed. They recommended to replace all 6 for 2100 lol which is rediculous. My question is, is it needed to replace all the injectors if the others are fine?

you only need to replace the problematic injector, unless the are using the newest injector which requires all 6 be changed.

I just replaced a bad one on my car and I asked the dealer the same question. He said they replace 3/6 because its usually under warranty and it covers them for more warranty work, but its not needed.

OP, you have an M3? Do they use the same injectors as our N54's?

OP, my advice is based on my experience with an N54. I did not realize you had an M3.

If the injectors are the same part number as the N54 then I would say they can be treated the same.

Check Realoem.com for part numbers.

I just picked up the car this afternoon, its running just as good as before it failed so ill take my chances instead or replacing all 6, also i been reading alot about this recall for the injectors and called a bunch of dealers and they said there is no recall on injectors just the fuel pump for 10 years/ 100k and turbos 80k/ 8 years. I even called bmw of north america and they said the same thing

Only some production month/years had the injector recall. I can't recall which specifically unfortunately.

$590 is a little steep but inline with typical dealer markup (both book time and parts are marked up over BMW MSRP). Did they have a free coffee shop and free loaner to go with that? They have to cover those costs somehow. I heard the local Lexus dealer has a free .... get this .... omlette bar. That's right, ladies and gentlemen. Omlette bar. Free. As a Lexus service customer.

Yup after tax i paid 628, i actually asked for a loaner and the refused. I was told i needed to purchase a car from there dealership to recieve one, and if i needed a car i would have to get a rental for 40 bucks a day. Lol at a omlette bar, never heard of that one before
