Will there ever be a turbo upgrade?

Let's be honest with ourselves. Will there ever be a turbo upgrade for the N55? RB turbo has already said that it is not likely they will ever make a turbo upgrade for our cars. Too much complexity and maybe not even feasibly possible. BMW has fucked us real good by building a restricting engine. Are we all just standing around with our dicks in our left hands and waiting for the wonder?

N55 335s started in 2011.
The n54 needed over 5 years to have single turbo upgrades...
N55 should have turbo upgrades in a year or two.

I know it can be done... a turbo upgrade is a turbo upgrade... someone just needs to do it along with the exhaust manifold and so forth. Best bet, ask someone who has a lot of experience like Shiv and the FFTEC guys.

I can almost guarantee it will happen, because when it does happen it should be a lot simpler than converting an N54 to single. The market for a kit on a car that new would be extremely small anyway, because most people will want to wait until they are off warranty.

Of course it will happen..it's a matter of time. The N55 will be used for the next 4-5 years and the market will eventually be mostly N55's.

Rob never said it wasn't possible. It is possible..just a new manifold has to be made from scratch.

I would love to see how far this engine will go.. A couple have blown over in germany due to crank shafts failing.

Im only running 14 psi and my internal bov seems to be failing and sticking open under high boost as well as my valve tronic turning off randomly. Thank god for the back up throttle body.

I get a code 2c90 diverter valve stuck open and the car feels laggy with a very audible whistle noise. When I clear the code via jb4 it instantly goes back to normal until I go wot and change gears.

Its weird it stays for a month or so then doesn't happen for a month I do not know what to think.

The N55 has bigger intake valves and longer duration cams.. both things that (all else being equal) will allow the N55 to overpower an equally equipped N54.

The only thing that is restrictive is the turbo, and there will be replacements in time.

Oh, and FWIW, crankshafts don't break because they are overpowered, they break because they are either unbalanced, or are being acted on unevenly (misfires at high power, etc). A well tuned engine in this day and age, even with a cast crank, should easily be capable of the levels Vishnu's big single is putting out. It's all in the tune (and upkeep/maintenance).

Come on now with that defeatist attitude. Big turbo will come and until then go FBO+meth and run low to mid 12s all day long

Building a new manifold and adding a turbo for a car that's already a single turbo is almost trivial for a fab shop specializing in those things. Airflow is easy. Tuning is harder but bms seems to be saying they're ready when the kits appear and I doubt Vishnu would back down from the same challenge.

So all it takes is for the first guy to plunk down a bunch of cash and be without his car for 1 month to 1 year. Who wants to be first?

why does it take so long for a turbo upgrade to be made... the new mustang gt 5.0 had a aftermarket supercharger upgrade the day it came out.

N54/N55 owners who like to mod their cars are a rather niche group among the general owners whereas the Mustang platform almost everybody is into modifying their car.
