Eibach Pro System Kit or Other? Recommendations Please?

Hey Guys,

I posted earlier asking for recommendations for my '07 335i e90 sport package. My goal is to slightly lower it to improve handling and cosmetics, while maintaining ride comfort and not bottoming out.

Some people recommended Eibach Kit. Well, lots of epople did. I am just about ready to order but have some questions.

Should I get the Eibach complete system with springs and shocks? Or just buy the springs? OR, should I buy the Eibach springs and get the Koni shocks? Is there an advantage to getting the shocks from Koni and the springs from Eibach?

I would highly appreciate any input on this matter before I click the "BUY" button with my credit card! Not really sure what I"m doing here, so any specific advice would be appreciated

get the konis. you can adjust their stiffness. I kept mine on the softest possible.

the Eibach pro kit, paired with Koni yellow shocks is like "Spaghetti and Meatballs"

They were made for each other!

You cant go wront with this setup, basing it off a sports suspension, you should see a .5" drop and a smooth ride.

Messing with the shocks pressure will allow you to find something comfortable that still performs to your liking, I have seen cars with this suspension take some insane turns with rookie drivers without loosing any composure in the car, and seriously delighting the drivers who use them.

Have you ever had any experience with stock shocks and eibach pro-kit springs Craven?
I know the handling would be lesser than that of aftermarket shocks but I don't do anything hardcore to my car. I simply just want it lowered for cosmetics. Then again, I don't want to suffer comfort.

you dont want to keep the stock shocks with lowered springs. you can, but the shocks will wear out a lot faster. so you would inevitably have to replace them. thus costing you a 2nd installation charge. might as well do it all at once and save some cash.

If you are interested in the Eibach/Koni set up.... contact Gavin@MMW. I bought my set up from him and it has been great. Plus, he is the man. one of the best mods I have ever done to my car. Makes it a lot more fun to drive. and looks good, especially with my Avant Garde's....that Gavin also hooked me up with.

If you want to keep your stock ZSP shocks go with the Eibach Pro Kit springs.

I usually don't recommend stock be paired with aftermarket springs, but I believe the spring rate of the Pro Kit springs and and your ZSP shocks would pair up nicely together as the Pro Kit springs are on the softer side. The old performance dampers which I installed along with the Pro Kit springs are designed to go with the old performance springs which have a spring rate very close to the ZSP shocks found on your car. The only reason I intalled them was because I had non zsp springs before. I will tell you that the ride is LOWER and still very comfortable and compliant.

From the plethora of posts I've read on this matter it seems like H&R springs require a necessary shock upgrade but as far as eibach or B&G it isn't as necessary.
There is a lot of talk about them wearing down faster with H&R but I've talked to people with B&G springs that have ran on stock shocks for 70k miles.
Also, seems like cars with B&G or eibach handle just as well with stock shocks. I could care less about improving performance. All I want is a lower ride without sacrificing comfort.
(I base all this on what I read from this forums)

Ive never read that its a good idea to use stock shocks with any lowering springs.

Besides, even if you did it would be ok for a while.... until your stock shocks blow out quicker than usual. then you would have to replace them, as I said. thus spending two install prices vs the one.

youll save money in the long run. just my 2 cents. plus, your ride quality will be better with the koni shocks vs stock shocks. a lot better.

I bought the car at 70k and I'm up to 80k now. I'm not sure when the last time the suspension has been replaced. Why were u wondering?

well, there is a chance it was replaced by the dealer at 50K if you got it CPO or something. But, if it wasn't, and you haven't done it yet - they are going to go very soon and you will need shocks anyway. So with a new car, or something under 20K miles on the suspension you can get away with it, but with yours i'm guessing it will wear a lot faster if you add just springs to it at this point.

Paying labor twice will be the same as some Koni's, so really it will pay for itself and you can set the Koni's to the lowest setting and they ride great (they ride nice on almost all settings really.) but will perform miles beyond the OEM setup, as an added bonus. So if you ever do feel the need for speed, you can do it.

Yeah good point. Honestly I don't feel like my suspension is worn out but then again, I might just not know anything better.
Can Koni's and h&r sports give me better comfort? I know eibach can give better comfort but I like the stance on the H&R's a ton better.
I typically cringe over harsh roads and my heart bleeds if I hit a pothole. I'm scared my 19's will get hurt.

I would get the Eibachs, then if you like the H&R stance - get the lowering perches from Supreme Power it will drop the front down a little more, giving you the raked look, and still the best ride

an extra half an inch dropped in the front? that sounds dangerous or a little too raked. Do you know of anyone with this setup?

Was searching and found this thread, anything different you would suggest from a 2011 335d with the sport package? I'm just looking to come down an inch or so . Thanks!

Eibach Pro Kit springs, about 1" drop and maintains the comfort of stock the best.
