not sure but i think you can just replace the silver piece alone or have it vinyl wrapped. i just bought a glossy back knob and might be selling my current silver one soon. its in good shape. still need to change up interior trim from wood to something different. search around someone should be selling a descent one. i saw two performance one sold in last week for about $75.

im sure it does come off but rather leave mine as is. found this though. kinda pricey but it means its replacable.

So who's gonna give this transplant a whirl. I want a wood one too. There are some cheap knobs on eBay. E60,e46, x5's etc...

Unfortunately in my case, that silver plastic piece is actually snapped and doesn't stay on anymore.

Mr. E90: what type of wood is it?

I'd like a wood one if it matched my interior trim, if not then I'll probably go with stock like Derui offered.

There are a lot of shifters on ebay. some are cheap which is where i plan on getting a wood on. that way i'm not out much if i botch it. there is a wood one from a 2003 5er for like 15$ that i saw last week.
