absolutely. I had a vintage set of 16" BBS on my 1989 e30 in Gold w/machined dish Looked period on that car and huge considering 14" was stock. Don't laugh...
A ridiculously good deal that I am considering now are the Axiss rounded flat 5 spoke in Graphite with a smooth polished staggered edge on Tire Rack. @SMADD 2 things. What a Car those M5's are and you are in Alpharetta? You do C&O?

So update... They said they are going to fix the wheel. however after talking to the guy I think I may just sell the set and get an "upgrade" to a lighter stiffer wheel. These wheels on there are heavy as hell!.. Any idea on what looks good?

What color is your car? Arctic?
By the way, I would NEVER trust repaired wheels. I'm just that way, I guess. Something that's made the way wheels are, just isn't made to be repaired and still be 100% reliable. Arctic with Bremmer Kraft BR09 18"

My car is space grey... I didn't know there were so many ways wheels were made or they cost so much :/ so much for bolt ons for a while. Plus why are replicas so much cheaper? Quality?

Cracks in the barrel can be welded, however I would not expect the wheel to hold up over an extended period of time. Personally, I would get it repaired for the time being, then purchase a replacement. You can always save that repaired wheel as a full sized spare, in the case of an emergency.

I just told them to not worry about the cracked one, just buying a new one.. thanks for the input VMR (not in a sarcastic type of way either, kinda sounds like that tho)

Seems like you invested a bit already..but may be time to let go. That crack looks tough to fix. Forged, cast, two piece, three piece..I've seen all types from replica price points to $4000+ destroyed. They look good so hopefully when you get them next all works out

The integrity of the wheel will never be the same and like someone a few posts ahead of me said, "how long will it last?". Then again, if you really love the wheels you have and trust the guy repairing it, what the hell, why not?

Went to pick up a wheel that I had recoated because of rash and they painted it black... smh haha.. I going to get the cracked wheel fixed as a spare now and I ordered a new wheel from N4S and will be here thursday morning. I just hope I bought the right wheel but they look exact, now to see if the color matches. Hyper silver is hyper silver right? haha

Agreed on the cracked part. In my case it is the inner rim that shifted slightly enough to only cause vibration between 48-51 mph and something some wouldn't notice driving. I couldn't pick it up visually and I scoured them.
No stress spots in paint, gouging etc. I figure it's within limits and worth a try. If they were aftermarket and or worse condition I'd replace

One day hit something that sounded like a pothole. Never saw it, just heard a big "BOOM". The next day went into Discount Tire for a leak. They showed that I had a cracked rim, they said they see it all the time with these cars that have run flats.
I had my wheel repair only last two weeks, then the weld failed and started leaking again. Paid a buck-25 to get it repaired, only to have to buy another set of rims two weeks later. Also decided to get rid of the run flats and get a decent set of non-run flats. Not worth the money to repair. Just replace. Oh and if you have run flats - get rid of them, they are junk. |

I refuse to run RFTs! I have heard so many bad things about them I would pull them off of any car that I own. I have some Continental DW on there right now. I just refinished one wheel, and got the crack repaired as a "SPARE". That would be an emergency wheel.

Amen, I hAve taken 17"RFT stock cars. Overnight on Koni yellows / 18" wheels and Eibachs that rode so smooth and even softer than OEM RFT.
