how to turn service light off
When I last got my car serviced I think they forgot to turn the red service light off that shows up when the car is started. It says the car needs new brake pads, but I had those switched out when it was last serviced.
Anyway to turn this light off on my own? Really don't feel like going to the dealer for this. |

The red brake pad light automatically resets when a new brake pad wear sensor is replaced with the new pads. It sounds like you have a fault. You weren't clear if the light always came on even after the dealer replaced the pads, or didn't come on at first and then it recently came on. If it came on ever since you had the pads replaced then either they didn't replace the sensor, or they didn't plug in the new sensor. If it has recently come on, then other axle than the one you had the pads replaced on has now trigered the light again.

The service light still needs to be reset. Even with a new sensor installed, the light will not fo out on its own. Start the car with seatbelt on and doors closed. Wait for clock to appear in display between tach and speedo. Press and hold the odometer trip reset button. Hold about 5 seconds and the brake service due icon will appear. Let go of the odo trip reset button. Press and hold the BC button on the turn signal stalk. It will then ask to reset. Let go of the BC button and press and hold again. It should then reset.
