Cool Isn't it amazing that the E90 335i has been fastest in its class since 2007???

I don't think that's ever happened before where one car in its class was fastest for its entire product cycle, and even some of the next generation...

I believe the 335i has held that title since 2007, and even today there isn't anything faster out there.

And in a broader sense it's really been "best-in-class" also for that entire time, it seems.

Good stuff!

You are wrong. I believe 335i is better handling and faster. Only thing G37 is good for is the cheaper price tag.

Not surprised, the 335i is pretty damn quick for a luxury passenger vehicle.

speaking of the G37, I have a typical d-bag Infiniti buddy who thinks his G37's 0-60 time is in the "low 3s or high 2s" after getting....a tune. thats it. a dyno tune....

i need new friends

I believe the 2010+ S4 is slightly faster, especially with their DSG, but the 335 is still shockingly quick.

yea s4 is quicker

the g37 had a 5 second 0-60 in car and driver. many reviews on the 335i had 5+ a few were under 5. bmw claimed 5.4

i mean compared to the audi(only 2.0T) and mercs 350 (not even fast) then yea the 335i is much faster.

stock though, its competitive. I'd put it top 3 in its class for sure.

i think 335 is the best bang for the buck. if your not satisfied with 300HP then spend 400$ buy a Jb4 and its in a whole other class.

Did you read this somewhere? Or just saying it? Pretty sure it's not the case. S4 is the first car that comes to mind for 0-60. And fastest, meaning what? Fastest 0-60? Quarter mile? Top speed?

2.0T and Merc C350 are compared to the 328i, not the 335i. They are in the 328i class, so of course they'll be slower.

G37 is faster than the 328i (which I guess it is priced closer to), but much slower than the 335i, both sedan and coupe versions of both cars.

The new Merc C350 is pretty nice, but performance wise competes with the new F30 328i, the E90 and F30 335i are both much better performers.

the C350 competes with the 335.... why would they have the c300?

now the c250/300 competes with the 328.

audi doesnt have an answer for the 335i (cept for S4), but there 3.2 back in 08 was the bigger engine vs the 2.0 but had the same performance numbers. They are in the same class....what are you talking about.

i guess, s4 and s5, for e90 and e92.

335i start at 40(e90)-42(f30) 45-(e92)

s4-47(thought next package up is 54) s5 is 54k and next package is 60.

M3 starts at 60k. and a s5 vert and m3 vert are pretty similar 1-2k difference in price.

I cross shopped the S4 and it's a great car. It is supposed to be slightly faster than the base 335. I would compare the S4 more to a 335is than a 335 in terms of performance. Frankly, Audi wants you to think it is an M3 competitor. The S5 coupe is different... that's a V8, not a supercharged 6. S5 cabriolet is a supercharged 6, like the S4.

I agree that the matchups are like this now, but only after Audi started stuffing in more options to compete with MB/BMW. S-line everything, etc...

Previous models had the 2.0t compete with the 325/328 and the 3.2/3.6V compete with the 330. The S4 competed with the M3.

Adding all these options have bumped up the game of BMW, with the addition to the IS models. These are the true competitors to the S models.
