"Save Name" Cmd in 335i's?
To all 335i (and xi) owners, does the voice (or menu) command "Save Name" work in your car? Please include whether your phone is compatible or not, and what phone you have.
It does not exist in my car with the Samsung SCH-a950 phone. My phone is not compatible, so it doesn't upload the contact list. It can receive calls and the "Dial Number" command works, but no "Save Name". A little help here please.

If you have iDrive - you do not have a "save name" option. If you don't have iDrive you should though.

No, for non iDrive cars the "save name" function stores a name and number that you input via voice. It is separate from your phone's phonebook.

I have iDrive. The 5 series iDrive does have "save name". I need it because my phone doesn't upload its contact list. I have gotten conflicting information from BMW and my dealer on whether it should be there or not. But you are probably right, because it isn't.

The "Save Name" and "Save Number" commands are not available in the E9x with iDrive - at least those with the newer progman in them. I say this only from experience because I have one with iDrive and one without. My previous sedan also was without iDrive.
In iDrive equipped cars, you can say the names that are already listed in your phonebook. There is both good and bad to this. Convinient not to have to add names just for use in the car, but also bad if many of the names you have are not very phonetically friendly. Best solution - upgrade your cell phone. That's the easiest thing to do.
