Can Replacing Speakers Improve Base Stereo Sound?

I have no knowledge about audios nor am I a hi-fi enthusiast. My e90's base stereo is good enough for me not until I bought my wife an X3 & her stereo is way way much better than mine. It's so clear & the bass is shaking her X3. Now, my car is still under warranty, so I don't want to touch the head unit or add anything to the wirings that will void my warranty. Hence, is there an easy way to improve the sound of my stereo like replacing just the speakers with better brand? Will it do the job or better stay with the stock ones?

It won't help much .

There is many examples of what can be done to base system in the above thread .
BMW has an Alpine retrofit kit that is one of the cheapest ways of upgrading the system if you are ultra paranoid about it. It gives you upgraded speakers , tweeters and a decent amp for the front door and under seat speakers.

See the entry in the above thread about Alpine upgrade.

If you want something better many people put aftermarket systems in .
BMW has to prove that it causes a problem before they can deny your
warranty. That being said there is a lot of different treatment between dealers. But it you want seriously better sound see some of the threads on base system upgrade.

Also you might want to identify which system of the three world wide that is in the X3.

Thanks ctuna, now it's getting clearer which direction I'm going for.

My wife's X3 has a center speaker in the dash.

That means she has L7

If you want a really good system MusicarNW makes kits
they are not cheap but they deliver audiofile quality sound.
Also they contain everything necessary including speaker adaptors
, factory connectors pre adjusted amps and or processors and no soldering
or crimping is required.
