Oil Change Question

Hello all,

I purchased my E92 on October 25, 2010. I plan on performing oil changes every 7,500 miles instead of the mandated 15,000 miles. I figured this way, I pay for one oil change, and BMW pays for the other.

If I recall correctly, there was a provision where BMW will offer an oil change every year, if we don't hit the 15,000 mark. Since I am very close to my 1 year anniversary ( 1 month remaining), do you think that BMW can pay for this oil change, or should I pay for it?

Every dealer knows it's 15k or 1 year. Call them and ask them if they'll change it now instead of making you wait till Oct 25th. If they won't, just wait a month.

...oh, and it's 1 year from your previous oil change, which may've been done before you purchased the car (I doubt they changed the oil the same day you took delivery). The only way you can find out is to consult the dealer - your year might be up already.

If you haven't hit 15k and you are only one month away, why not wait? Alternatively if you tell them you are going on a road trip for the next month they may accommodate you.

I dont think you will get BMW to pay for your yearly oil change. They will change the oil on their dime every year ONLY if you have less than 6000 miles.

I assume you are at 7500 miles then you are SOL..... either wait till 15k or pay it yourself to change it.

Not true. I talked to my service adviser and he said it has to be less than 6k miles to qualify for a yearly oil change or else to wait till 15k.
