7yr / 100k warranty for 3400?

Just spoke with the warranty guy at my stealership and he said that bmw has extended the extended warranty to 7 yr 100k for mechanical/electrical, not maintenance. It's 3400 on my 07' e90 38k. Anyone know if you can get this cheaper? Seems like a good deal considering I'd get the full 7 yrs out of it at 12k miles/year. That plus the used market seems to be dead, put my car on autotrader at 25, 900 which has resulted in a whopping 0 phone calls.

That is 3 years and 6 month of coverage or until you hit 100,000 miles. That is 17,700 miles per year. Unless you drive that much I will say it is not worth it. I had extended maintenance and maintenance on 2006 325i and I just sold it with 97,000 miles on it. It was worth it. I just got 335is and got 5 year 100,000 miles extended warranty with 6 year 100,000 miles maintenance because I will put on about 18,000 - 20,000 miles per year.

I love how they (BMW) say 7 year 100,000 mile warranty when it is really 3 year and as much miles as you drive per year (not many people drive 33,000 miles a year).

^ oops, you're right. So for 3 years and 16,666 miles per year do you think anything major would break that would cost $3400. The only thing I can think of is the auto trans, but those last well beyond 100,000 (This is from personal experience).

Dunno but I'm in the same boat debating if I should get the extended warranty or not. From the other posts I've seen here people are getting it for around $2000-$2500 I think.

One more point, reading this board I would get it if I had the 335. Twin turbos alone would probably be well over 3400.

It was like $2300 for me I think.

$3400 seems high.

Yeah if I had a 328 I probably wouldn't consider it at all. Actually this is the first car I would ever be keeping past the warranty period because I usually get something new. But honestly there is nothing on the market right now I like (in my price range) and I'm still loving the 335.

Unless you have any reason to believe your car may have issues (like the 335s) then I would imagine the extended warranty isnt worth it. I mean statistically it's not worth it because if it was BMW would be losing money... and we all know BMW would rather use plastic visors from an 89 Corolla than lose money.

Garage List
Anyone else get a "Save Up to $300" extended warranty postcard from their stealer about a year from their warranty expiring?

I have 07 e90 (335i) with 34K miles. Earlier this week I bought 5 year/75K miles warranty from Mercury Insurance group for $1900 with $0 deductible. Time starts from the day you bought the insurance (not the car service date) so it is till 2015 or 75K miles. This is exclusion policy (best one) and whatever listed is not included and rest everything is covered along with towing, roadside and upto $500 for tires.

I have not used it so far as I am still under BMW warranty but heard good reviews about this company so I bought it for peace of mind.

I am in Florida so BMW does not provide extended warranty. Even the dealer use some third party company

Ummm... why do they not provide extended warranties in FL? They sell CPO cars with the extended warranty.

I think this is true only if you are not the original owner. I called BMW and they told me that they use some National insurance company.
