Scirocco R
I know there have been a few Scirocco posts before and that a few of us would consider one for our next motor. Pics/review of the new Scirocco R are here: http://www.drivers-republic.com/firs...6e54836c281cf9
Looks great I know its FWD but I quite fancy a DSG one of those

There were quite a few track prepped ones at the Nurburgring, looked lovely and went like stink.

Great looking car, but the interior door pulls are a total turn off for me. The rest of the car looks so nice but the door pulls look so juvenile...

Dont like the wheels or the front bumper, I specced one of these up yesterday with VW - shall we say it was 'not cost effective' vs keeping the 335d.

Personally I find it ugly, looks like a space ship not a car!

I have a new-found respect for the Scirocco I had immense fun chasing down an admittedly fully race-prepped Scirocco around the 'Ring - it went like stink, and handled fantastically! It was being driven by a Nurburgring instructor though, which would explain a lot, but even so it was seriously impressive

Sounds like the R has the engine from the S3, which is a cracker and coupled to the DSG should be a nice combo, something I could never understand why Audi didn't offer on the S3.

It's a lot of power for the front wheels to cope with but at least without the 4WD they are keeping the weight down. Not keen on the wheels but i think the body work is a big improvement. Good work VW.

I drove a Scirocco when it first came out, but it lacked something. Good to drive, decent engine, not a bad interior etc. but not quite 'special' enough. Looking at the R, I could see myself being interested all over again.

+1 but yet from some angles I'm still not sure I contemplated the 2lt TFSI before I went for my E90 but just was missing something for me

This model leaves me cold for some reason. Maybe because for the price I would favour the Focus RS by a long stretch.
The 170bhp TDI I feel is a much better addition to the range IMO. |

Since the R8 was mentioned, a temporary change of topic: I was behind a red Auid yesterday and as we approached it my son said is that an R8? Aye!
The clue was in the registration number- "R8 AYE" I think that's pretty good! |
