Nope. Homosexual activity is now perfectly legal.

I've owned 3 BMWs and refused to run a front plate on any of them.

My first e36 had a euro plate on the front and I never got pulled over in that car.
My e36 M3 has been plateless since I drove it home and I've only been ticketed once in that car.
I got pulled over last week in my 335i for the first time and got a verbal warning.

I would rather run plateless and deal with a $45 fine once or twice a year.

Don't put it on and don't worry about it! I just made a 90 minute road trip and passed 4 cops shooting radar, they all could clearly see I didn't have a plate and didn't care.
I don't think cops care about it in TX.

Normally the police can tell one is not like the other. Who knows? Maybe it's illegal.

Holes are needed in many cases to install a bracket. If you move to a state that doesn't require it or sell it to someone who lives there they can be left with damage from the bracket and potential holes. Ugly no matter which way you slice it...

In the UK, we have to have license plates front and back. I'm obviously so used to it I don't even really notice them, they're just part of the car and you see past them. It's only when you guys sometimes put them on the side I notice the front looks odd.

Yeah, but sports cars are also proportioned much better for EU license plates. You're basically cheating.

EXACTLY. This thread is hilarious. Do you really think someone is looking at your car thinking "man that front plate makes that car look like shit!"?. Whenever I see one without the front plate I think the guy is just arrogant...laws don't apply to him.

Thats a good answer. Tell that to Johnny Law. There must be a reason for it. Anybody have a clue when/why it started?

I don't know if these are why the requirement STARTED, but I can only assume they're a big part of why it exists:

red light cameras
speed cameras
automated toll systems

All those work fine in states that don't have front plates

I recently recieved a $120 moving violation ticket for no front plate, just got a tow hook plate. Cops in my area are really anal about front plates, prolly cuz they see a young fellow in a bimmer lol
