New (to me) bumper...and license plate relocate.

A couple of weeks ago I saw two delivery trucks parked in our parking lot, side-by-side where there's really only room enough for 1.5 trucks. "Hmm," I thought, "Looks tight." Didn't think more of it until later in the day, when I noticed a big mushed-in part of the front bumper of my 335i.

I was looking at way over $1000 to buy a new BMW bumper skin, have it painted, have it re-covered in Venture Shield clear film, and re-install. But forum member cssnms came to the rescue with a second-hand bumper, already white, already clear-bra'ed, for a very reasonable price.

Then I had a conundrum: cssnms's bumper had nice painted plugs in the plate holes, and it looked really nice without the (Virginia mandatory) front plate on it. I decided to mount up a Craven Speed Platypus mount to hold the plate, so when I go to meets or do some glamour photos of the car, I can easily revert to plate-less.

Ta-da!

So, okay, not such an exciting post. But I do have more of the license plate mounts if anyone wants 'em.

Looks good Dan - I actually have a towhook plate holder from US Millworks coming to me, after getting pulled over last week for no front bumper. VA needs to get rid of the silly 2 plate law, so un-necessary.

Any reason you didn't decide to go M sport front?

Nice... I need one of those. Don't want to drill holes into my bumper!

I've grown to like the LCI bumper. Plus, there was the cost thing.

Dan, you shoulda gone Mtech! Tischer has a sale on right now....

anyway, the bumper and the tow hook plate look good.

I run a similar setup with my M3 rep bumper, but the tow hook plate holder is on the passenger floor because "I had to go through an automatic car wash"

that's my story and Im stickin to it

I got ticketed for no front plate while parked at the metro the other day. Frustrating to say the least...

I just received mine in the mail today....

Thanks for the license plate frame and candy!

Picture of it installed on my M3 Replica Bumper:

People may think small items like this are all the same. But I was impressed with the quality of the Craven license plate mount. The license plate is extremely close to the bumper without actually touching the front bumper, which is exactly how I wanted it to be.

Looks good Dan! Nice touch adding the headlight washer cut-outs.

I may need to pick up one of those plate brackets too.

I might suggest some small rubber plugs on the back of those fasteners in case someone bumps that close side of the plate.

On my car I wanted it to sit over to the outside a little more, so I flipped the plate around the other way and used one of the holes on the side.
