Pros: affordable, available in different sizes and specs
Cons: usually poor quality, not as strong as oem which result in cracking, or worse damage, especially under strenuous circumstances (pot holes, track duty, etc) Save up and go oem or other high quality brands

100%.
With experience owning two sets of replica wheels back in the day I'll always cough up the premium and go OEM or equivalent (BBS etc). Even my winter set is OEM now and I will never consider replicas given the choice. Massive difference in quality/durability. |

Depends on the application. I also wasted time on 2 sets of 18" M6 reps for winter. Too soft to handle pothole impacts, even without runflats. I knew the risk, but got my money's worth with the appearance while others were rocking steelies.
Next I tried a "better built" (according to SimplyTire) F10 rep wheel at 17" for winter - and I've had no trouble yet at all. Maybe it's luck, but 17" is not the same situation as 18" or larger. On the other hand, my pal's 19" OEM rear wheels with runflat both cracked on the inside lip, and even one wheel is more $ than an entire set of aftermarket...at least the reps I had bend instead of crack, and you can drive home ;-)

Wow, I must be the only one that doesn't have ANY issues with replica rims *rolls eyes*.
People here are putting every replica rim in one basket. There are several companies that make replica rims. I have had 3 sets for the last 9+ years with zero issues and I drive in the pit hole capital of Canada (Toronto). Just like everything else in life, you need to do research before buying. BTW my sets are 2 18 inch and one 19inch...yes I have 18 inch snow tires :P B |
