Both front Kosei K1s cracked

While prepping for the new season I found cracks on both front K1s (2 on left one, 1 on right, all on inside lip). ~40 track days on these, about half with current tires. Rears are both fine.

I check wheels before every event, this is definitely a new development. The only scenario I can think off for the cracks was a very rough transition between infield and banked straights on my last event. There was an actual gap of a few inches upsetting balance on every transition.

Check your wheels, better safe than sorry!

Sorry Pete. That does suck. I will say, 40 track days is decent. I would guess that the average person does 5-6 a year. You must've been out there A LOT!

lol, I didn't say that was in one season. I think this is over 2 and a half seasons, I shoot for ~15 track days per year.

Unless I quit my job, I don't see me squeezing in more track days per year

Fine. 15 a year is still a lot. Lol.

For as much as you track your car, I say you pick up a BRZ and beat the snot out of that. That's what I'm planning. Retire the 335i from the track.

I have seen the front wheels on a set of Kosei K1's during a race have the center of the wheel separator from the barrel while in the carousal at Road America.

No choice, I ordered 2 K1s for now. If the stars align I'll be running 18" arc8s next year with much wider tires on a different car

Wheels are a wear item. They will all break in time with track use. Good looking out.
