A good first experience with Audi dealer

The TPS (tyre pressure sensor) pinged on during the drive home. Happily the Audi has a compressor in the boot as part of the tyre repair kit, so I was able to get back up to pressure to get home.

Phoned dealer this morning (for the first time as a new Audi customer) who were extremely helpful and booked me in for a waiting appointment straight away.

Got to dealers and explained my anxieties of them looking after the wheel when taking the tyre off (having had at least two wheels wrecked in the past when changing tyres), and was assured that I shouldn\'t worry.

An hour later car is back round, tyre repaired and even not washed as requested(!). However, the service guy looked a little sheepish and admitted straight away that when they were putting tyre back on they\'d nicked the wheel.

Now normally i\'d be reet pissed off, but before I could express any emotion, he apologised again, and explained that he\'d already ordered a new wheel for fitting next week!

Now that\'s what I call good customer service!

Wow, can't complain about that, apart from the hassle!

Mistakes happen. It's how you deal with them that matters and that is good to hear they put their hands up.

What an expensive mistake to make. I know what my new alloy cost so guess yours isn't far off. Good on them but wow, surely they'd offer to refurb in the first instance, maybe they're difficult to do (being two-tone).

Fcukin idiots, cant even change a bloody tyre. They had no choice but to be honest given you had already pointed out your concerns.

Some mechanics really could not give a shit.

It always amazes me that the 'professionals' don't use those plastic coated sockets to get the wheel nuts off. When I ran VAG cars the garage I used had them as a matter of course because they were dealing with someone's pride and joy. Take it to a tyre fitter or a dealer and it's some monkey with an air gun and metal sockets.

:edit:

Bugger it. I'm going to buy one.

Mistakes happen and in this instance Audi did the right thing straight away, I wonder how many BMW dealers would have done the same?

Clarks BMW in Aberdeen and put a scratch down my wing when doing my actuators.

They never said anything and used a scratch touch up pen to hide it.

Once I noticed it and pointed it out they accepted liability.

To damage and know you have done it, then try and hide it is very underhand.

Obviously it's hard to say if the garage knew about the damage or it was just a worker scared to own up to his mistake.

Nice touch by the dealer, and it's customer service like that which keeps you with the brand.

They had no choice but to own up though. I wonder if an A3 owner would have been treated so well.

Adhesive lined heat shrink.
Let the end tuck and trim with a craft knife at the end

I had a similar experience to the OP and I have an A3. They didn't replace my wheel but offered to have it refurbed at their cost. I complained that they would never get a colour match so they refurbished all of them on a 1 day turn around and even let me change the colour.

I've only had 2 dealings with my local Audi dealership and both were positive. They also have a free customer cafe in the showroom with lots of nice cakes.
