Ok yesterday, parked at my regular coffee place.
Picked up coffee, and came out side to find a 6 inch bird poo right in the center of my hood.
No biggee, will deal with it later.

Drove 50 min to work and forgot about it.
When I got home, grabbed some water and a micro fiber, and cleaned it off.

After cleaning it thoroughly, and drying it.
In the reflection I can still see the bird poo.
When I touch it, it feels like the poo ate the clear just a bit.
Can't get rid of it.

Any ideas?

Car is an E90 335i.
Black sapphire metallic.

The lesson here is that bird poo can be very acidic and should be removed as soon as it is noticed. The majority of the damage is done in the first hour or two. After that the acid is neutralized and does not do much.

Also, if you had a good coat of wax, the poo would eat this instead of your paint.

As others have said, it's really important to remove bird dirt as soon as possible. Keep a bottle of quick detailer or a product like poorboy's world bird sh#t remover in the trunk with a couple microfibers.

You can remove the spot by claying and polishing the hood. Make sure to finish off with a good wax or sealant application to protect the paint from future incidents.

I always carry Quick Detailer and microfiber towels in my trunk. You never know when birds are spot on with their aim.

Everyone has basically covered what you need to do and why. FYI... I keep a bottle of Meguiars quick detailer and microfiber towel in the car for just this reason.

if it's acidic enough to etch the clear, your wax isn't going to do anything as far as protection

Yep, this is why I keep detailer and microfibers on hand.

i usually keep a pressure sprayer in the trunk:

I fill it with ONR in "quick detailer" ratio. I mist the bird crap, let it loosen up a bit, then blast it with the pressure setting. The poo always comes right off.

Of course, you'll have water marks on your car from not wiping off the ONR, but at least you can get rid of the bird poop before it causes damage.

Not in the long term, but it offers enough protection to save the clear coat until you get back to the car and remove the poo.

anyone use mothers clay bar kit? i have the same problem.. going to get the kit today and wipe the stain off my car :P hopefully it works!

I've found a pretty easy way to remove bird poop that is dried up on your car. especially helps if you don't have any quick detailer in your car.

take a folded paper towel (or cloth), soak it in water, and lay it on top of the bird poop for about 5 minutes or so. when you come back, the poop will be soft and it comes right off without any force or rubbing.

I've used it. I clayed both my cars a few weeks ago. It's easy. I had them both done and applied a coat of polish in a little over 2 hours. Just read the directions and don't apply pressure when you use the clay. If you do your entire car, the paint will feel as smooth as glass.
