Replacing rear e92 roundel - tip
I got some black/silver part CF roundels and read about some issues with the rear roundel being flat, while the rear of the e92 is contoured, leaving air gaps at the side once fitted.
I bought some 2mm foam from a craft shop on ebay (£1.99 shipped for two sheets), poked the stubs on the back of the roundel through and cut around it. Once fitted, the foam at the top and bottom of the roundel compresses, whil the sides stay expanded. Looks better than gaps: Got the ebay link if it's useful (have actually got a spare sheet of foam if anyone wants it).

I'll pop some up when I've received and fitted my gloss grills. Would you prefer the shots with the car 'au naturale', or with me oiled-up and draped across the bonnet?

What do you want explaining my little cherry pie? They look sweet on sparkling graphite (have you noticed that on the BMW car builder that SG is no longer an option - have they dropped it?)

If you look at the one on the back of yours, the rear part is thinner at the top and thicker at the sides, perfectly fitting the contour of the rear. It appears that all of the replacement ones that you can get are flat (or so I've seen by the research I've done). The foam fills the gap quite nicely and it's not noticeable at all - the photos are pretty close up and pretty big - looks just fine, even on a fairly close inspection.

I just don't think that my suspension would take it if I were to furnish my bonnet with the type of model you seem to have photos of in your personal collection

No problemo - you can always have a look in a couple of months!
Also worth mentioning that the front's fairly easy to get off, just need to slip a credit-type card under the roundel at the side (close to the stubs), get a small screwdriver between the card and the roundel to provide a small gap, then a bigger one into the small gap and twist (still between the card and the roundel). Repeat on the other side. I bought new grommets (about £1.50 for 4 from the stealer), but didn't need them. New roundel just pushes on. Rear was more of a pain as it is stuck on - just needed to run the card all around it (raised numbers/letters away from the paintwork!) and repeat as the front. Took no more than 20 mins to do both.

Ive just added some CF roundels that i purchased from a trader in the states, and they now supply an e92 specific e92 boot roundel.. so no need for the foam etc..
Great idea though photos to follow |

I'm pretty sure the ones SSDD offer have the correct contour? The problem is your buying generic ones IE E90 ones.. Or am I wrong?
