Limp Mode Every Morning? Any ideas

Well over the last few months my car has gradually been getting these limp modes. It started only happening once every 2 to 3 weeks. I would turn the car on, and I would have the limp mode (half CEL). I would turn the car off, wait 2 minutes, and then it would leave. The CC-ID it threw was 29, which I understand is pretty vague and doesnt pin point the issue.

Now its been happening more frequently. Like every 2 days. Every time after turning the car off for 2 to 3 minutes, it goes away. Only mods running are procede (original version updated all the way until the move over to rev II) , golf tee mod and rix boostgauge (the original one). The car is an 07, never been to the dealer and I really am dreading taking it in to the dealer.

Dont want them to update my software, as Ive read so many posts about lag after doing the update.

Anyone have any ideas what can be causing this or any suggestions as to the issue.
The car cranks right up, so I dont suspect a fuel pump issue.

bradtm, thanks for the links, but neither of those threads relate to my issue.
my cel is only when i turn the car on. my cel are not random, they only happen at start up. yet i dont have rough starts or long cranks to indicate a fuel pump issue.

and the minute i turn the car off and turn it back on its gone.

i have noticed if i try to drive the car when in limp mode, the car stutters and drives rough. one time i tried to accelerate hard while in limp and it boosted to 25 lbs. that one time, i turned the car off and turned it on and everything again was fine.

Shiv, I have no way of reading the codes. All I see is the CC-ID.
I wish I had a bt scanner.

Oh, i thought you had a Rev.2. You'll need to find a way to get the code read. Until then, we are just throwing stones at the unknown. Is probably an easy fix with that info.

My last car did this occasionally. When I got around to reading the code, it was the Vanos solenoid.

Shiv, no rev 2, i have the original only.
What ever the issue, it has been progressively getting worse.

Now at lunch, i could not clear the cel by turning the car on and off. Of course!

I guess im going to have to take it in. Time to take out the procede. What a sad sad day. Hopefully its just a loose wire in my procede install. Im going to try and check all the connections tonight.

How hard is it to change the spark plugs. I thought i had read its pretty difficult.

If its a solenoid issue, will the dealer be able to see any signs of the tune being in, assuming i take it all out with out leaving any evidence?

I doubt there is anything wrong with the procede installation. It wouldn't be isolated to cold starts if it were. Sounds like a hardware issue someone else in the system. Sticking vanos solenoid perhaps. A code reading would come in handy

Looks like I have no other choice than to take it in.

Well I will keep you guys posted. Time to take out the procede.

Should I take out the boost gauge as well to bring the car in?

Before you take it into the dealership, get your codes read. That way you know before they do what is going on.

How can i get the code read, I dont have a code reader.

Will your $65 code reader work, if so I might have to order it. Or maybe find someone local who has the code reader.

You'll either need to borrow a BT tool or a rev.2 to get the code read. A generic obd2 scanner won't work.

Have you posted in the regional forum area to see if someone will read your car with the BT scanner. In miami, I bet you could find someone to help or even a shop with one.

I have not posted in a regional forum.

I will try that.
