Just Ordered Today!
After lurking here and bimmerfest, I've finally ordered my first BMW (328i coupe, manual, premium, monaco blue w/ black leather) Thanks for having all this information (especially the color thread... it took me a full night of looking at the pictures after seeing the cars at the lot to decide between the graphite, space gray or the monaco).
Now that I'm back, does anyone ever have problems getting the dealer to honor the deal they discussed? I realized all I ended up with is a vehicle inquiry report, a spec sheet listing the terms of the lease and cost of the car (we made some final adjustments and he wrote down, the bottom line price + floormat, his name is written on this page), and a receipt for the $1k I put as a deposit. No real sophisticated contract with fine print... is this cause for concern? I really want to just get excited about the car and not give in to these crazy thoughts... Please share your experiences. Btw, if anyone is interested, I felt I had a pretty good experience with Sonnen BMW in the Bay Area... think I got a pretty good deal too (with the help from the forums). |

Congrats man. Let the waiting game begin! I ordered my 335i about 3+ weeks ago, its built, awaiting the boatride, and am already gettin real antsy. This time around was much easier going than the first car I ordered (330xi). Cuz I actually knew what it was I was talking about and wanted lol. These forums certainly helped me with more than just my ordering decisions.
Choosing the color is by far the hardest part imo. I finally went with TiAg, since my 330 is Monaco and my 2nd/3rd choice was Black Sapphire and Montego. I love the monaco, just wanted a lighter car this time around. Half the time people call it black and I have to correct them, but I look at as though I'm getting both colors I wanted in one. Sometimes it looks dark blue, sometimes it looks black. And it looks amazing after a good wax in the summer sun...... Again, congrats and time to celebrate!

The vehicle spec sheet... that was a Buyer's Order correct? And with your $1K deposit it was probably mentioned on that sheet in reflected in the bottom price. Did they have you sign it? I did when I ordered mine and my dealer had a sheet that stated some stuff like what they're offering me is what is agreed upon etc. with some checkboxes and I signed in a few different places.
I had a spoiler too, and that price was added later since they weren't sure of the labor / painting involved at the time, but for the most part everything on the Buyer's Order was what we went along with. Trade ins can get factored in later when you're ready to buy.

None.. nothing checked or signed. Actually, I had a dealer call me yesterday (apparently dealers are pretty enthusiastic about making a deal on the last day of the month) saying we could do everything over the phone and I wouldn't need to go in to order the car.
I just emailed him to ask if we forgot to sign anything or if the stated price sheet is sufficient (that and the fact that I applied for lease yesterday and approved this morning.. making sure I locked in the Feb rates). And I am super excited for his car to come... man.. it won't go into production until the first week of April so I still have a solid 2+ months to wait.. luckily I hadn't planned on actually driving until the end of April but still... it's different now that I can obsessively check the status of the car on owner's circle |

I didn't check or sign anything. Never met the CA I ordered from. I did it all through emails. I sent him a 1 time use CC# over email and he charged $1,000 deposit and sent me a copy of the order in simple email saying OTD price, how much i paid and what the balance was at pickup time. I don't think ordering a car is any different from buying something on Amazon.com. It costs more, but same idea. I am not worried a single bit. Oh, do make sure you get a production # so you can check it on the BMW site and the 800 #.

Yeah.. I got the production #.. glad the dealer warned me that owners circle takes a while to reflect the new specs or I'd be freakin out (even tho a space gray coupe with red leather is sexy too...)

Read the sticky thread about order tracking and use the 1-800#, that's more accurate than Owner's Circle. Once it is shipped though the number can't give you any more info.
