So the last place I ever thought I would meet someone with a built 335D is in Bend Oregon. Low and behold fate put me in line with a great guy that has a stage 4, hybrids, intercooler, meth, trans tune, etc. etc. and he took me for a ride and I am hooked.

He is going to be doing the installs for me in his garage and utilizing 2ft jack stands. So this got me to thinking what are the average times for someone to do these installs as a DIY?

Intake
Intercooler
Complete Exhuast R/R (remove/replace)
Wheel bearings
Meth install
Hybrid Turbos
Swirl Flap Deletes
Oil Change
Transmission Fluid Change
R90 fuel pump

How much time should each of these take?


Anyone want to answer and/or ad to the list?

I would be checking CBU first. Add mechatronic sleeves to it. Fuel filter. Remove urea tanks. Wheel bearings have me worried, the rear ones are tough. Otherwise, will be a week of work.

Some of those things you'll be doing at the same time:
Air Intake, Intercooler, EGR/Cooler delete. I did mine ala carte and each took about 2-5hrs. I had pesky little issues with each that burned time. I would also add a thermostat change while down there. Also the new fluidamper and belts.

Swirl flaps are debatable, but doing CBU cleaning if needed should be done while the intake manifold is off. Just taking the manifold off to do the flaps should take you 2-4 hrs.
These times are for me. I consider my self a google-mechanic. If I can find it there then 90% chance I can do it. Nothing professional about my skills.
It sounds like you will have someone doing/helping that will be more efficient than I.

You'll be doing the fluid changes while you are under the car with the exhaust. I would change your fuel filter while down there also. I paid for that work so no time estimate on that.

Something else I would suggest is checking how much vacuum you are making before starting. It'll give you a reference for when you are trouble-shooting in the future and wondering if your loss of 2-4psi is your problem or if it has always been like that.

Agreed.

I've been using a maxjax for the last 3 years and have been very pleased with it. I also have a relatively low garage ceiling, but this will raise the car high enough that I can use a low wheeled stool to move around under the car. I also like how easy it is to remove the posts from the floor and get them out of the way when not using the lift.
