Bet you've never had this problem before!
My son stuck a hairbrush down the kidney grille and its now sitting behind the fender grille. How do I take the fender grille out so that I can remove the hairbrush before it melts! Is it something you can be easily done DIY or do I have to take the car to the dealership. BTW: it's still under the 4 yr factory warranty |

if you look closely you can see tabs around the grille (assuming this is bottom middle one) and if you just push the grille in on all the tabs one after the other it pops out (in towards the fmic) then just pull it back into the taps after you get the brush out.

also if you scroll down to the 4th pic here you can see where the tabs are located.

unscrew the undertray connecting to the front spoiler, you´ll be able to get your hand in that way
if you un-peg the grill, it may end in tears

Get a pair of tweezers like below, I use these to get leaves out of the same place all the time.
Goodluck, try this before removing the part. |

I'm not usually a follower of the dark arts, but I would have to say magic...

Tie a slip knot with a good size loop in one end of a length of string and fish it down through the grilll. Guide a small dowel with nail through mesh to guide string loop over brush handle and pull string. Prob solved.

Unscrew the bumper at the top with the 4 screws that hold it in place. Reach down and retrieve hairbrush. Problem solved.

not easy that way, you have the impact bar to negotiate, and radiator cowling
go from underneath.

LOL "sorry customer of a recent new car purchase, the 4 yr / 50k mile warranty doesn't cover removal of hairbrushes from challenging areas of the vehicle"
Pretty sure if you took it to the dealer they would help, not that it is necessary. |

Mission Accomplished!!!!
Quote:
Found an old shoelace, one that was pretty rigid, created a loop and slid it down, met resistance the first time, but the next time I sent it down the grille bars on the left. As I threaded down, I saw it land right on top of the brush, but I couldn't find a tweezer or anything that was thin enough, so after a lot of experimentation, I found a thin pair of bamboo skewer sticks Gingerly, I looped it around the brush handle and holding it down with one sticks, I yanked the knot hard. Then slowly I pulled the shoelace and it started coming up... at one point it got stuck and I had to lower it back down, but the next time it came back up the right way. I reached into the grille the moment I could fit my fingers through and wham out it came The things 3 years olds do... hope these scientist years pay off later! and thanks for all the suggestions, folks!
