I'm kinda curious as to how you guys are doing this too. What's the process?

I think that price is fair even without a pcv clean. I actually asked Andrew on how much he would charge and thats the price he gave me. When did you want to do it? And yes, for the passenger side mount.

The intake manifold is very easy to remove. Easier then you think.

I just use the BG44k, dump a bottle in the tank when the tank is on E and fill it up, and I make sure to do it so that when I do do it, I will be running the car over longer distances beacuse the hotter the engine gets and stays, the better it cleans.

Wish I could remember the last time I put it in.....maybe I will put some in before Mfest since that will be good for it for running a long period.

Dumping that stuff in the tank is just a waste.

Heh, just bustin' your chops, man. $475 for all parts and labor sounds pretty decent. Weekdays are usually a no-go for me unless I skip out on work, so how about next Sunday? Saturday might work too if I can clear some things up.

Unfortunately, dumping the cleaner into your gas will only clean the injectors. Since the N54 is DI, no fuel ever goes over the intake valves as in traditional port injection engines, so there's nothing to clean the gunk that gets built up.

Yeah, you have to suck the Seafoam or BG44K through the diverter valve hose into the intake manifold to even have a chance of it doing any good. This is the only way it will wash over the valve stems. Putting it into the gas tank or crank case like Vincent said won't do any good on our cars.

I may actually pull the intake manifold this summer just for fun to see how much build-up I have.

It shouldn't be too much if you tend to stick to one gas station. For example, I usually will only put in Shell gas. I stay away from stations like 7-eleven, King soopers, etc.

I have only ever put Shell or Conoco in my 335....the amount of blow-by depends on a lot of other things too, like ringland tolerances, seating of rings during break-in, boost, etc.

Ive begun to put in King-soopers gas. They state 10% ethanol now on the pumps. I used to only put Conoco gas in but that didnt seem to do much for my HPFP problems, so at this point I figure gas is gas as long as its 10% ethanol.

I've been putting in Safeway gas since I took delivery in October 2007. Makes no difference IMO. The car has never needed anything replaced due to failure, only due to BMW recalls and I don't think there is a correlation of discount gas to parts failures considering how many people shop for gas at discount stations (BMW and non-BMW)

Ok, I think I should be able to make it on Saturday. However, it looks like Sid wants a get-together on Saturday morning. Is there another time that would work better? My Sundays are still typically free, unless I decide to take a random trip up to the slopes.

Give me a call if you want to discuss. Three zero three, six three eight, four four seven zero. I'm not allowed to carry the phone around the office, so if you get my voicemail, leave me a message and I'll call you back when I get it.
