oil in my charge pipe at only 19k miles!?!? help

OK so as I was about to install my new ets charge pipe I found oil from my stock pipe and around the censor. Isn't this indicative of bad or failing turbos?? I would take a pic but for what ever reason doesn't except the file. Any clue guys??
I have a 2011 e90 n55 335xi.

Oil blow by is common especially on vehicles without an oil catch can.

I recommend not only a catch can but cleaning the sensor carefully with MAF cleaner.

I thought that BMW solved this on the N55... ( I remember reading that in the N54 was a pretty good upgrade, but on the N55 it wasn't really needed as they changed the design and this was solved...

How can oil slipping in the pipe and probably my intercooler too be normal. Could this be an Injector/vanos problem??

Nope! 19k on it and I've barely had this car for little over a month. Don't drive it crazy and I'm all stock besides CAI from Injen

Just to add another +1 to what has been posted, but this is common. My ER CP has a bit of oil residue in it. This can be cut down by installing an OCC. I haven't done so yet, so I just opt to clean my MAF sensor, but I plan to install one soon.

This. Calm yourself OP your car is fine.

Crappy crankcase venting + poor oil drainage lines + oil pooling in the rear turbo (on the N54 that is) = blowby into your charge piping. That’s just how it’s going to be on these motors. I haven’t heard about the N55 being appreciably better than the 54 on the first two issues noted above, but you couldn’t do much worse in terms of keeping oil where it belongs than the N54.

Not sure why you're making this into a huge issue. It's just blow by?

If you're worried about it get the occ, but in general this is a common issue. Who knows, maybe it is the cause of some engine issues long term???

Already ordered one. There's no way all that oil in the charge pipe and probably my intercooler is good for my car. Call it the "norm" but this def has to effect performance.

'11 N55 here and I just had a very little oil residue in my charge pipe last time I swapped it for an ER model. Nothing like the puddle you described. Car has 60k miles on it.

I have 26,000 miles I am changing my chargepipe very soon hopefully I dont have a bunch of oil in there but worth noting that as everyone else said it is normal blow by and it's very common that is why the catch can was created lol

just looked at the install instructions for the bms one.. kinda looks annoying

I know this is an old thread but I thought I would add data in case anyone else comes across it like I have.

I found about a teaspoon of oil in the charge air pipe (the one on the outlet side of the intercooler) and it didn't look like any was in the intercooler itself.

75k miles N54T in 335is
