Wax/sealant suggestions for Monaco blue
Once it warms up a bit I'd like to give the paint some more attention, I've waxed it once or twice before but didn't exactly use the best wax available. I don't know if I should use wax or sealant or what, so some insight would be helpful.
So, without spending a ridiculous amount of money, which products should I be looking at? (I'm a noob with this sort of thing, so I'm not looking for a 5 step system or anything like that, I think 2 is acceptable, and fwiw this will all be by hand) Thanks in advance guys. |

a good place to start would be the DI website for some how to knowledge. for products i would suggest CG M-seal for a sealant and PB Nattys Blue for a wax. these can easily be applied by hand. remember paint prep is a lot more important than just choosing a product and slapping it on. i would suggest a good two bucket wash with CG Citrus Wash to cleanse the paint of previous protection, and then claying the car. then you apply the protection so that it can properly bond with the paint. claying a car is a lot easier than some expect, and i highly reccomend it if this is your first full detail.

Well you should start with doing some reading.
See sticky's... http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9145 There is an ask a pro section on the top also. In terms of sealant a vast majority will like the blackfire wet diamond. Easy to apply even by hand. To make it pop you can spray on some optimum wax. Opti-seal is another choice that works with ease. There really is a whole bunch you can try. There is no "wrong wax/sealant" from the site below. All can be found at www.detailedimage.com George is also nice enough to offer us a discount... "e90post". They also offer a section full of info and product uses they offer here... http://www.detailedimage.com/Ask-a-Pro/ Naturally, most wax/sealant jobs are only as good as the preparation. So you should read up on that too, these topics have been beat to death. Last edited by Jeff@TopGearSolutions; 02-14-2010 at 06:28 PM.. |

I'd suggest Blackfire sealant followed by PB Natty's Blue (or maybe Dodo Purple Haze if you're willing to spend a bit more). This combination will look fantastic on Monaco.

Collinite 845 would also be a great wax to use .......... especially since it's selling @ Autogeek ........ buy one, get one free of the 16 ounce size. $14.99 is hard to beat.

Colonite is a good durable product but lacks the gloss and reflection of the above duo. Protection wise for a single product it's hard to beat though. |

Zaino Z2 for sealant. Natty's Blue paste wax for wax. There are other more expensive waxes, but NB works great on dark colors.
For both Zaino and NB, apply VERY thin or they can be hard to remove.
