i disconnected the battery codes go away but car still feels like its in limp mode...then i drive a bit(feels slower then my civic) and half engine comes on and service soon...

just drove around the block and car has almost no power at all... i have to almost floor it to make it move(hickups)...stalled a few time cause of it...

could it be a fuel pump?

any info would be appreciated!

According to my BMW manual, DTC 242 (P0305) is "Misfire, cylinder 5". There are two things that can cause a misfire in a particular cylinder, bad secondary ignition component or a clogged or bad injector. DTC 242 does not, specifically, point to a bad coil or injector. It just says there is a misfire in cylinder #5 and it's up to us to determine the cause.

By swapping ignition coil #5 with ignition coil #1, and coming up with the same code, you have proved the ignition coil is not the problem. If it were the ignition coil you are correct in that you would now get a DTC 238 (P0301).

it mean something wrong the sensor. it could be the wire connector or it could be Faulty sensor itself.. or the could be you are running too high of a boost. the sensor telling you to set it back. You need to have someone with a DMM to test out how high the volt vs the oem spec.
