How to break in a 335i?

Hey guys, i was wondering if the 335i's have a strict break-in meathod? For now I haven't passed 3,000 RPM or 80 mph. I was gonna stick to that till 1,000 miles. And then slowly start reving the enine more.
Any feedback?

It sounds like you are pretty conservative as the manual recommends a limit of 4,500 rpm/100 mph for the first 1,200 miles, no full throttle during that period and then a gradual increase of rpms.

I generally use a limit of 5,500 from 1,200 to about 1,800 miles, 6,300 from 1,800 to 2,400 and no limitation after that. You may feel that the motor isn't completely broken in until as much as 10~15,000 miles as BMWs seem take awhile to fully loosen up.

BTW, there is also a "Drive it like you stole it from day one" break-in school, but I've yet to see any of the proponents offer to warranty your car!

I was gentle for the first 6000kms......until I did my first oil change. Kept revs' under 3500rpm

Question - how many HPFP will the OP go through before the car is broken in?

OP - follow the advice in the manual and you'll be good. Most people that don't follow the book come back here and complain of increased oil consumption - although they'll never admit the correlation.

You'll get all sorts of "there is a conspiracy by the manufacturer to ..." and "I drove it like I stole it and don't burn a drop of oil."
