FRP Hoods

I am looking to get a powerdome hood and the cost of carbon is double that of FRP... so I was wondering if FRP will be able to hold up as a hood.

Will the damage start to become excessive as I get rock chips from highway driving to the point that the whole hood will become ruined?

I know that FRP trunks don't hold up too well over time especially during shipping, so I'm thinking since a hood is exposed to road debris all the time and has to generally put up with a lot more crap the FRP might become heavily damaged pretty quickly.

I would be more concerned about safety. You essentially lose the "crumple zone" offered by the OEM metal hood. Although the crash bar behind the bumper and other components probably have more of an effect, the hood also absorbs some of the energy in an accident. I am not sure how much energy a plastic hood can absorb compared to a metal one.

Just dont run in to anything, and it wont be a problem

I think chipping usually occurs at the paint level only.
