Steve, still waiting for shipping / insurance options for those that want them, but having never had anything lost or damaged in transit / post ever in my entire life from anywhere EVER I'm not losing sleep about things disappearing!

Understand with the Alufelgen issues, but as said, I know AR pack things properly.
Understand, and thanks for putting in the time on this.

I'm not so fortunate, and also ship a lot of stuff in and out of EU in our work.
Law of averages I guess mate.
I was trying to reach Alufelgen people recently, but now they have done the deal they have vanished!

Let's assume we get caught for import duties then the total with shipping, taxes and a £20 admin charge will be circa £628.

Anyway, we're up to 5 now....any advances?

1.Doughboy - 1 Intercooler
2.Idnan - 1 intercooler and 1 set of DP's
3.Phil200tdi - 1 intercooler
4.YORO35i - intercooler
5. m1bjr - 1 intercooler

Lets move this on now

Upto 5 now, good stuff.

It looks like I'm the only one after a set of downpipes, if that's the case then what price will AR do them for me Mike?

Maybe we should decide on closing date for the GB?

I would love to partake, but could not do so until next month.

Let me know when the closing date would be and I maybe able to get involved

Thanks

Idnan, the $650 stands on the DPs for just one unit when ordered with this group.

He's come back with shipping on the FMIC, due to the size its too big for the USPS $120 box that the DPs will fit in, so the next cheapest is UPS at $240 which is a lot IMO.

I've been back to him to see if there's any other options / slower services.

So, worst case costs:

FMIC $690
Shipping $240
= $930 total
@ £0.62 / USD = £576
Duty @ 7% of total with shipping = £40.32 (good old HMRC include shipping costs as duty taxable)
VAT @ 20% of total with shipping & duty = £123.26 (VAT goes on after duty)
Plus £20 handling (billed later by courier) =

£759

That is still £50 less than the UK retail price of a forge unit at £810.

The ETS unit will only be less than that worst case figure of £759.

The shipping should be less, the declared value will be less (so any tax / duty will be less) and the description will hopefully mean no tax at all.

Best case with no tax = £576

How is eveyone feeling now?

About right - 1 hour fitting is £40 or so at an indy, so it still equates to £810 unit cost roughly.

I'm not overly keen on the forge unit personally as I've not seen any dyno heat run data for it against the OE unit. I was going after the AMS unit based on size and build and AMS reputation, but this ETS one seems even better still and cheaper too.

Still interesting to see what evolve say though.

Thanks for getting the shipping prices Mike. Would it be possible for me to get both items in the $240 box?

If AR put the value at say $200, then surely HMRC can't charge us for the full value as they don't know what they're worth.

Will have to check on the combined shipping.

Customs will only tax on the figure shown on the paperwork, and if marked 'warranty replacement' or similar then its duty free.

Still waiting for a reply on more shipping options.

Wouldn't blame you steve.

I've gone back to him saying basically WTF with that postage. Their own site shows 130USD postage to my specific Manchester postcode, but he says the ETS box is HUGE and the site is wrong.... but i asked that he honour the website postage.

I was hoping on 120USD max shipping max, if not we need more unit discount.

I will need the 5 units as a GB.

Idnan, DP's would not be included as this is direct with ETS - sorry

Neil, thats a good offer for a UK retail price.

I'll wait for AR to come back with shipping first before we decide what to do.

I've changed my mind and I only want the FMIC now, I may get DPs in the future but now is not the time.

We'll see what AR come back with, but the idea of Neil doing the ETS unit for £665 fixed price seems pretty good to me as a second option if we're stuck.

Thats considerably less then the forge unit for what seems a lot more of a product.

Plus we can all moan at Neil and not me if it all goes pear shaped
