Like was Johnny D said the Sound is unbelievable and I do feel a bit of gain. The only negative was the install, it was an easy process but fitting the boot did consume much of my time. For this being my first performance mod, this was money well spent.
Turner Motorsports has them on sale right now (free ground shipping and 15% off AFE intakes). This brought my total to $382. It is due here tomorrow.

I received mine through Turner also and installed it last night. I love it!

Any noticeable gains? Had you previously done the charcoal delete with K&N drop in?

I have this intake for about 2 months then the service engine soon light shows up. Anyone having this issue and knowing how to fix it? Much appreciate!

How do you know the engine light is being triggered by the intake and not something else? There are many things that will cause an engine light to come on.

I was able to pick it up for $450 from the same eBay vendor.
if you want gains from an n51 get an AA tune. way more power than the intake will provide, + a boost in mpg, removes mid powerband dip, etc.

this intake does look pretty good tho....

Go get your car scanned. I doubt the intake caused the SES light.

Euro pipercross combo is going to be about 500 and the afe is going for 380 now. So it comes down to spending 120 more on an intake thats not much different in tone then stock, hows your afe holding up?

Just fine. Still sounds great, filter is still really clean. Checked the boot out a couple weeks ago and it's still attached the same as day one.

This is definitely worth consideration due to the fact that I'm thinking about going back into a closed box air intake. The simota just sounds so good tho

At that price range tho the alternatives (although limited) may deserve a look as well

Just installed my AFE today. I must say I am quite surprised at how loud it is - in a good way. I get this stupid drin each time the RPMs go past 3k. The only thing I don't like is when I step on the throttle, bring it up to 4500-5000 or so, let off the throttle a bit, and as it settles down into 3000-3500 it seems to "drone" pretty loud until it drops below 3000. 3k is were it really starts to sound good, then it settles down a bit around 4-5k, then it gets loud again above 5k.

It definitely makes the car sound so much better.

I know that! LOL! Anyways, I'm thinking of doing the OE tune, try something a little different from the standard AA tune as per my sig.

Anways, here's a clip I made of my install from about 2 months ago. Love this intake, still haven't seen any increase of fuel economy since I don't use it as a DD since my family is out of the country right now, gotta use the Shitlander as a DD beater!

I think you summed it up perfectly on your post above.

Looks a really sweet intake, but very pricey. I'm still happy with my cheapo DIY solution - http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=836702

Took me about 25 minutes to install this item. The most difficult part was the boot that fits over the throttle body. This boot is then attached to the intake elbow and tightened down. The issue comes from the boot being perfectly symmetrical and the throttle body has a plate next to its intake that makes the boot unable to go on all the way. I had to trim off about 2-3mm of the boot around this location to fit it correctly.
This is the same issue im having I can't make it fit, and it slides off after tightening, I didn't wanted to trim the plastic because I wasn't sure it was going to work and if i wanted to return this i wouldn't be able to, so you trimmed around the plastic boot?

Where you able to modify the boot to fit in your car? I'm having the same issue.

I got it seated, but it was getting loose after a few days. Sent it back and got a full refund. Went with the injen intake and haven't looked back. Straight forward install as it should be.
