335d problem
Driving home from work last night along the m4, and I get tyre warning bong.
With a red symbol, despite no puncture. And feels like the car has gone into limp mode. Anyway I sleep on it, and go out and reset the tyre pressure system, and it still feels like its in limp mode. Absolutely no power. Has something else gone, and this is just coincidence with the tyre pressure warning, Where do I start to look for possible problems? Had engine cover off and vacuum pipes look perished. No faults being displayed on idrive. Car revs freely but don't go anywhere fast! |

I am not sure if its conincedence but if you say vac pipes look perished - is theo uter braiding persihed or the actual hose?
I would say there may be a boost leak somewhere and losing power |

The outer braid is perished. Its pretty hard to tell if if the actual hose is. Is there a test I could do on them?
Would a blown hose cause drastic power loss like this? |

Absolutely you would only be getting reference boost which is whatever the waste gate spring pressure is rated to; I'm not sure of that number. You would definitely not be getting the nearly 30psi the d normally puts out.
As far as a test.. You could pick up a cheap vacuum/pressure gauge and attach the rubber hose in question to the pressure gauge and add pressure if you hear an obvious leak or it will not hold pressure, then the vacuum line in question will need to be replaced. |
