Garage door opener

First timer with a 2007 335i convertible. Programed the garage door opener, with the rolling code...what fun. But the manual says the GDO should work when the car is off, but mind does not. Is there a switch somewhere, or in the programing in "settings" in, iDrive..??
Any help will be appreciated.

Garage List
My Homelink mirror only opens/closes garage door if the car is running & I know of no way to change it

Which is exactly as I would prefer it - that way, if someone breaks in to your car at the house they can't open up your garage door & then clean out your entire house unless the car is started

Being able to start a car is a couple steps above your common break n enter thief

If you want to open your garage door from outside without car being running - just pick up an outside keypad that mounts on the house...

Mine works at the "On" setting. Car does not need to be running. That is just silly.
