Have an 07 328i been looking over for a friend and it is popping these codes. P0015 and P0012. It is also popping P0420 and P0430 catalyst codes I feel they are possibly related.
I cleaned the Vanos solenoids and the check valves/filters. They were filthy. The oil was changed a few days ago. The insides of the engine are possibly the worst I’ve ever seen. I noticed the vanos solenoids are different one appears to be a Dorman the other I’m not sure.
Oil filter has the cartridge and the o rings .

Just looking for input on what else I might possibly check/test before throwing money at it. At this point I’m going to recommend new solenoids just because the owner has said he never changed them since 2010 when he bought the car.
