Tints/Clearcoat at VPC or Dealer?

Hey everyone,

I did a search on what VPC does vs. the dealer and I couldn't get a clear answer on the clearcoat. Is that applied at the dealer or at the VPC?

I am pretty sure that the window tints are done at the dealer, but would appreciate any insight anyone has.

Thanks!

My understanding is that the clearcoat is from the factory.

Then they spray the cars down with wax.

After the car is sprayed down with wax for its protection it's shipped, and then hit with hot water to melt off the wax at VPC.

Dealer just buffs and polishes

Sorry for the lack of explanation...

there is an additional layer of clearcoat you can have put on, on the outside its a clearcoat -- on the inside its a scotchguard/stain resister...maybe i just paid the dealer extra for nothing!

mmm idk how much you paid but i think you basically paid them to put on another layer of wax. i don't think dealers/vpc puts on another layer on clearcoat on top of factory clearcoat. never heard of such option. but then again, i didn't really look into such things, so who knows

Yes, those paint protection and carpet protection plans are a scam. Unfortunately you already paid. At least you know for next time.

Outside - They just put on a wax or sealant. Probably not even expensive stuff.
Inside - You probably could've done the same with a $5 can of ScotchGuard.

sorry to hear that...but this has been discussed many times here, you should've consulted us first

As for VPC/VDC, only Original BMW accessories installation can be arranged e.g. spoiler, m-tech kit, ipod kit (not 6FL) etc.

Lesson learned -- a $200 lesson, but one learned no less.
