Hello E90post members. Before I get into our latest endeavor I wanted to introduce our company to you. Most of you might not have any idea who or what AMS Performance is. Some of you might have a very good idea.

AMS Performance is a forced induction specialist based out of West Chicago Illinois. We specialize in high quality, race proven components for most import turbocharged vehicles. Our current catalog spans from the Mitsubishi Evolution 8,9 and 10 to the Subaru STI and even the Nissan 240sx. Recently we have started working with Porsche, Nissan GT-R and now the BMW N54 Engine.

Our standards of quality are unsurpassed by anyone in our industry with 35 full time Salesman, Technicians, Fabricators and Engineers we have a team that can not only design and build the best products on the market but support them as well. Our 20,000 square foot facility is state of the art and allows us to do complete Turn key production. We can go from Idea to rapid prototype to hard component very quickly. We employ some of the best fabricators, engineers and engine technicians in the country

Here is a sample of our new Exhaust manifold for the EVO X From CAD to Rapid prototype. The engineers can go from a design model to a rapid prototype within days. Using this system we are able to not only provide the best performing, best fitting and longest lasting parts...we can also get them designed quickly!

We do not just make parts...we test them as well. When An AMS part gets tested it doesn't just get slapped on any car. We subject our parts to the most grueling of scenarios. If a Part can survive on our race cars...it can survive on your street or race car. Using this testing system we are not only able to make our parts reliable but we are able to fine tune them to make sure they perform above the competition.

Here are some of our race cars and sponsored cars putting AMS products through the ultimate test:

AMS EVO VIII Drag car, the Quickest EVO VIII in the word

AMS pikes peak Time Attack 2008 Champion

AMS EVO Making 1130 all wheel HP....on just boost

Ivans AMS 240SX KA-T, Fastest stock suspended KA24 in the world

AMS Time attack racing Video

Our philosophy on tuning is much like that of our product development. Making power is important but making safe, reliable power is our number one goal. A car will never leave our doors with an AMS tune unless it is capable of making consistent reliable power.

Here is a Quote from the president and owner of AMS performance, Martin Musial

"What many people don't realize is there is so much more to an engine tune than just WOT and peak horsepower. If the car is a dedicated drag car that might be ok, but for 99% of car owners it's not. Everything from driveability, cold start, fuel economy, and even idle quality make any car enjoyable and safe to drive. These areas of tuning are many times overlooked and are actually the most time consuming and difficult to perfect. WOT tuning can take a few hours, while driveability and running quality of the car can take a whole day sometimes. OEM engine calibrators literally have hundreds of hours in tuning the factory ECU so that it’s as perfect as it can be, this can not be replicated in one hour of dyno tuning no matter what anyone tells you.

I do my best to make sure a car will drive, start, idle the same if not better than a stock ECU. The only limiting factors of driveability sometimes involve engine management systems with limited functions and extreme engine modifications. A piggy back ECU controller or radical camshaft selection can prevent 'OEM like' driveability.

Another tuning aspect I'd like to discuss is reliable horsepower. I'd rather enjoy 400 horsepower for the life of my car rather than 440 horsepower for 10 passes, wouldn’t you? Since most of my customers run on pump gas, I carefully take into consideration the ability to make horsepower while minimizing detonation. Detonation will kill an engine, and the severity of it will determine when the fun will stop. It's a ticking time bomb and my goal is to diffuse it. My tuning process involves starting conservatively and then increasing power while carefully monitoring the knock sensor output and reading spark-plugs. I make sure that with my tune, the customer can throw almost any kind of abuse at the engine and it will survive." - Martin Musial

This brings me to our latest project. The shop here as purchased a 2007 Space Grey 335i. This winter AMS will be working with the N54 engine and producing a full line of parts for the N54. We are confident in our ability to not only make power with the N54 but to make reliable and safe power. So in the coming months you can expect a lot more posts from myself and our staff here at AMS as we strive to make the best products made for the N54 right here in the USA!

Thank you sincerely for taking the time out to read about our company and what is on the horizon for our 335i. Please feel free to ask any questions at any time and I will do my best to answer them.

Our site is deficient of N54 Products at the moment but in the coming months as we finalize products we will be populating our very soon to be released new site. In the meantime if there is a product anyone is looking for please do not hesitate to call or PM. We deal with several companies and there is a good chance we can not only get what you are looking for but also get it at a good price.

Thank you,

Eric Gaudi

There are enough exhausts, downpipes and intercoolers on N54 market right now. The next step a lot of people are looking at are upgraded turbochargers. Glad to see you guys stepping in.

Alongside stronger pistons and rock-solid transmissions I hope

Welcome to the community !

As many said already, there is a lot of demand on products for the N54.

I am looking forward to a rock-solid bi-turbo upgrade which will work with the current 14-15psi tunes as well and for downpipes with metal catalysts and a flex section, maintaining the current emission standards ( no O2 sims ).

Thank you everyone. Keep the ideas coming. I have also heard an oil cooler is a good idea. Keep toss out idea's... we are listening.

The plan is to come out with our own complete exhaust system (downpipe and all) along with intercooler and intake system. This will all come fairly quickly. Other factory components like motor mounts suspension etc will all be examined as well. Along side this we will be researching tuning systems that allow for custom mapping. The plug and play systems right now are not bad but as with any "general" tune you leave something on the table. Variables like Climate, modification variances and even how individual cars react all play a role in tuning. By being able to custom map a car we can more efficiently tune it and bring out not only more HP but possibly even better driveability. This will be something that has to be done in house. Of course if we find that a current plug and play system works we will offer it for those customers not fortunate enough to come out to the windy city. Any tuner will tell you though, custom mapping is always the way to go.

In addition to this we will of course be looking into making a turbo kit for this car. Turbo kits are what we are known for here at AMS and aside from sounding a bit cocky we are quite good at it

Blue Lion, your avatar is phenominal! LOL

^ That won't be a problem at all. Intercooler is one of the first things they make. I have an AMS intercooler and it works wonders!

Its really nice to see AMS expanding their specialty to wide variety of vehicles.

It really shows that they are capable.

Not many evo/dsm tuners will do this as they lack engineering/production aspect.
