Favorite MD Driving Roads
Just wondering what roads people have found to be fun drives. One of my favorite weekend drives is Falls Road with a side trip through the Prettyboy Reservoir in No. Baltimore County. Lots of twisties!

Lots of nice 2 lane roads in western MD, expecially Garrett and Allegany Counties.

270 north bound just after 495 at 4 on a Friday. Lots of gear changes and swearving. A real test of your driving skills!

Here's a Google map of the route starting from 695. A nice place for lunch is the Oregon Grille on Shawan Rd - about a mile east of Falls Rd.

Coming off 495 onto Glen Echo towards DC...Love it!
Also, F1 enlightened me to another.....Just behind George Mason High School there is a road that curves past the metro parking structure and near 66...Its a great little loop that you can take a few times to unload some stress....

+1, especially MacAurthur Blvd.. towards the reservior. That twisty road doing 60+ miles is fun.....You can either do that early in the morning or late at night...Too much traffic crawling during daytime. Watch out for cops though

This is one of my motorcycle rides:
Start in laurel. take 216 to scaggsville left on 108 right on 650 (new hampshire ave.) either go all the way up to hit 270 or turn left on 97 and come back. Very nice roads, elevation changes, blind corners, there is one 90 degree left turn (very sharp turn), lots of cows to see, farms, open land. Also watch out for road kill.

All - Thanks for the suggestions, I will definitely check them out (although I hear they will jack up your insurance rates if you intentionally drive 495 to 270 on a Friday at 4:00 ).

Stay away from South Baltimore.....Had a game up there and couldn't go more than 8 miles an hour...But couldn't go slower or I'd get shot...

Ahhh, I remember those Frederick County roads. Sucked if you got behind a tractor, which happens quite often.

Yes, been a long time since I drove out that way. Every now and then we go to Charlestown slots and that drive is nice. Old route 40 past the state park (forgot the name: end of golden mile) is an awesome drive straight to hagerstown (actually Funkstown)

This is a popular place for people to run their cars.........out in the country w/ only 1 entrance to the stretch. The area I have highlighted is 1.22 miles long and pretty much dead straight, there is elevation change as it is a river crossing. But a good place to run your car nonetheless.
