Need new battery in 07 335i
Ive heard stories that i need to register it or else the car blows up into little pieces and other horror stories. Whats the best way to go about replacing this pig? Also if i dare go to the stealership how much will those criminals charge me.

FYI
The quote from my Local BMW dealership was 360 installed and and registered.
My Indy was 260 for and Interstate Battery with a better rating. Some stealerships charge up to 500 for this. The horror storys originate when you take it to someplace like autozone and they try to put it on battery back up to save the radio values which are stored in your keyfob anyway. Most people end up with blown fuses and things not powered up afterwards. About the only thing you loose as far as values in the car are the time of day(on the car, with no battery backup) and the adaption values which is good thing , it was for me anyway. They don't know what to do with the power distribution block on top of the battery. If you want to do it yourself there is a DIY you need to get it registered at an Indy or Dealer or you can buy a Bavarian Technic Scanner that can register the battery but cannot Program a new type of battery in . If you do your maintenance or want to diagnose your own problems . Think of it as getting 100 or 200 dollars off the scanner. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=392533 One of the two battery installation procedure above. http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=16 http://www.bawarec.ru/manuals/3er/e9...3er-e90-12.pdf this thread should be in the maintenance subforum Are you skiing yet? I just replaced mine. Found one at Walmart that fit perfectly, capacity and size-wise.

Do you have a way to register it?
How much was it and what the model number capacity and warranty?
I guess it says 3 year right on it. It looks like you can add water . |

It should run fine, but it's supposed to be registered so that your car's computer and electronics knows what rate of charge to use. Otherwise, your battery life will be reduced. Of course, this is what the dealer will say but it has been talked about in other forums by other independent techs.

You know... I don't quite remember how much the Everstart battery was at Wal-Mart, but if it's $100, and it still costs at least $100 to goto an independent tech to register it... man, I'd rather just buy the $100 battery, and if it goes prior to the 3 year warranty, just get some money back from proration and buy another $100 battery without having to shell out the $ to register the battery. )

Around $90. Just go to WM and look in their book or use the small computer. You can see the batt number on the picture.

I use it to read/clear codes. It is essential when you have a tune and if you want to keep your warranty. Other than that you can trouble-shoot things yourself without having to go to the dealership. Not sure what else you can do with it besides that.
