Alpina Transmission Flash - WHAT DOES IT DO?

I've read a couple posts today referring to an "Alpina Transmission Flash"? Can someone elaborate on what it does exactly?

I makes your car better . You can flash your ECU to do a test and if you don't like it you can back to stock.

I've been lurking and searching a bit, but trying to make sure I have this right. If you have a pre 3/2007 you can still flash this if you change out the mechatronic on your transmission to the post 3/2007 mechatronic, correct?

Are there any other requirements since it sounds like the obdc is different as well?

The Alpina flash is hands down the best thing I have done to my car.

Found what I was looking for over there, and it looks like the answer is "yes."

Thanks for pointing me to the right sub-forum to find a definitive answer!

Care to share what is involved in flashing pre-2007 335i and expenses?
Thanks.

I know you need one of the newer mechatronics units, you could search for the pn on realoem by searching parts for a 335i manufactured after 03/07. I'm pretty sure that's all you actually need. Paddle shifter retrofit could be a plus

Were paddle shifters introduced after 03/07?

That's the same conclusion I've come to.

Mechatronics from transmission manufactured 03/2007 or later. Direct swap otherwise. Then you code it, it would seem.

Sammy has a pretty good video that makes it look extremely easy. Pay attention when he says it looks easy because he has his transmission on a transmission stand.
