I'm sure there's alot of people using other languages and was wondering if anyone found a way to display asian languages such as korean.

GOOD GAME SIR.
But yeah it would appear that the localization is really "localized" and there's not much of a choice in the language in the iDrive. I was thinking of getting an aftermarket ipod adapter that can display foreign characters (mostly southeast asian) but haven't had any luck finding those. |

There is no new "firmware" that can be downloaded. I checked with the dealer about this yesterday, because of my ongoing battle with bugs in the system.
As far as I know, BMW has no plans to support any languages other than English, Spanish, and German on the NA nav system. Personally, I don't believe you'll ever be able to get Korean.

I dont know about korean.. but i use chinese...
i use "Japanese" character code and apparently, Jap and Chinese have very similar codes and I can read all my songs in Chinese on my non-idrive car..

Well, your posts shows how dumb my post was. I thought he meant the Idrive using Nav for Korean - not music.
So, to the OP, I apologize for so grossly misunderstanding your question.

damn FOBS...
Haha yeah, my iPod is filled with Korean songs as well. I highly doubt there is any way you can get korean font to display on the iDrive. Mine just come out as blank. Learn to deal with it I guess. The Benz 09 SL550 (I assume all of the Merc's new navi system) displays all of my Korean songs completely though... from title, artist, and album. So jealous.

You will need either new software or new hardware. There is no easy way to display it.

I really wish my idrive would display all my chinese songs and album cover, now that I know a Benz can do that, I am kinda regret on getting my 335i, why can't they just make an update for this, if a small ipod can display chinese and cover, I am sure the idrive can be able to do it too

I guess no one has came up with a solution yet? This really bothers me... All the Chinese characters show up as ???? on my 2011 M3's iDrive. Mercedes has no problem displaying them.

You could try recoding your iDrive to National version Korea using Autologic. I'm not 100% sure that it will work as the Korean CIC has a different P/N from the USA P/N, though... If successful that will also mean that your CIC language will be in Korean, not only the music. |

I will do some further testing, but it looks like there is no character set for these languages in the Euro spec CIC. I suspect it is the same with the US spec CIC |
