Bumper damage after 2 days =(

One of the rebars from a parking block was sticking up and as I reversed, it caught the bottom of my bumper and made a slight tear.

It happened at work, so their liability insurance will take care of it. Anyone know of a good body repair shop in the San Jose Bay Area? Can I take it to BMW for repair? Since I'm not paying for it, I want the best possible job.

that sucks,

you should get in the habit of stopping short of those blocks,curbs..............
or you'll be fixing the front bumper quite often.

Would the PDC have helped in that situation? This is why I never back up anywhere. Hope you find a good place to fix it.

Thanks very much, gsxrpaul.

I do not have PDC, but I don't think it works for anything that small. The rebar was sticking up only by a few inches, not sure though.

Is that really Titanium Silver you have? It looks like Alpine White in the photo.

i have learned to be incredibly paranoid about parking my 330. it sits quite a bit lower than my tsx did so when in doubt i stop pulling forward and will get out and look.

sorry to hear about the damage though, that really sucks. any chance of bending the plastic back into position? probably not real noticable since its underneath the bumper. just knowing its there would drive me insane

Acura RL = Honda Legend in Japan

When I was in the Bahamas....all the Lexus cars/suvs were Toyota. It was like a culture shock...

lol that's because the rest of the world gets nice cars and we always get screwed. we always get stuck with the non-manual cars too, i.e lexus, audi, but in the rest of the world there are manual options on their higher end cars!

Well not really. Bahamians pay a huge duty on all imported items (this means all cars) making their Toyotas cost almost as much as our BMWs. A 3er over there will end up costing you 60,000 or more after you buy it somewhere else, ship it over, and pay the duty.
I regret that I must leave my bimmer and return to Freeport in a couple of weeks. No bimmer for two months! Who will drive it for me?

Ouch, that hurts looking at the photo. glad that the business is paying for it but still, it is a hassle to have to go through that only after having the car for 2 days.

Thanks for the sympathies guys. Got an estimate of $1000 to fix it. The bumper is only $269, but the paint and labor makes up the rest of the bill. Sad to give it up for repair. =(

And yes, it is Titanium Silver. Guess in the pictures it looks a little white.

So who did you end up using for your repair.
