They also said it was a very common thing for bimmers, which is what i've found from other posts. I have 63k miles on the car, so no warranty coverage

Anyone know a cheaper place to get this done? I have also read that sometimes just replacing the gasket will suffice, rather than paying $300 plus for the entire pan/filter.

thank!
Thats actually a great price. Sadly it is a bit normal for the Auto trans on the 335i. I do recommened doing all of it, that way it doesnt start leaking again and you have to pay more than it would have cost getting it all done right the first time.

I just had the exact same thing done at Bimmer with Kevin. Basically the labor is exactly the same (full tranny service vs. just fixing the problem)...and since you're at 63k, might as well get the transmission service done.

Fluid is expensive...several quarts...and the pan/filter combo is a bitch of a design (expensive). You'd be in at well over $500 to do the seal...might as well go the whole way. I have a warranty (AUL) on mine...they covered about $550 of it (just the seal replacement/labor/$30 part). Pan and fluid were considered a maintenance service and not covered.

Kevin is a straight up guy...I trust him. Of course I trust Parker as well...but his hands are tied with labor rates/schedules.

oh no! please tell me you kidding...

btw..im not necessarily complaining about having to do this, just seeing if that was a fair market price. (altho idk why bmw hasnt progressed with technology in terms of their gaskets)...but, thats the price we pay to drive great autos!

ya i have heard good things about the shop.. just seeing if you guys had a cheaper experience somewhere else since i am new around here. makes sense about the labor being the same, either case they have to get to and remove the pan. I found a few alternate brand pan/filter/gasket kits for like 150 rather than 350, but i am kinda worried about the quality of non OEM parts like that.

..guess ill suck up the 1k

Morning. Looks like snow/rain coming today, at least when we go out we won't take the M so it will stay clean a bit longer.

Lots of transmission talk in here lately. Makes me glad I'm not at that point yet.

Send me your current miles and what kind of term you want. I will look up the warranty.

I paid $3.48 for premium at Shell downtown on Sunday. It's probably higher already.
