canadian import stories

just wanted to start a thread on canadians who've imported their bmws from the US and issues faced.

any canadians on the site who imported? which broker did u go through? which cdn dealer did u use to bring ur car into compliance (ie cluster change, letter of recall etc)? how was the experience?

Pre January 2008 easy as pie. Post January 2008 much harder. Still doable but much harder. Girlfriend's brother in law brought in a 545 60k miles fully loaded in Dec. Co Worker tried to bring an 2005 X5 in Feb, many more hoops to jump through.
