What Speed Do You Do On M1/25 (or other motorways)
recently noticed a lot of people getting flashed at the opposite lane from the variable speed limit cameras even if they are not turned on.
Just wondering how fast people here drive, I know for a fact most people dont do 70. |

If I ever go on the M25 I always stick to 70mph as I dont trust the variable speed limit cameras even if they are not showing a speed limit. Am paranoid they will cop me if I go over 70mph.

Probably don't need to worry about m25 cameras if you ever get a clear road.

Been using the M1, m25 and m62 alot for the past 6 years. Used to drive up north too uni in huddersfield.
Drive sensibly on the M25 as my dad got caught long time ago go most of the time 70-75, but the M1 i normally go like 75-80. M62 i am careful, bad road sometimes with the accidents which happen on them. I do sometimes have a tendency of slipping and putting the accelerator a little bit more. i have been noticing that the M1 now are getting more cameras put in. Someone told me that these are gonna soon be active and working. |

Fucking M1 cameras now in action!!!
Fucking bullshit. I was travelling northbound near Luton about an hour ago (midnight). Hardly any traffic and i'm cruising at 65mph (yes 65 was feeling tired and lazy). Then i see 40mph written on the electronic displays. I'm thinking meh whatever, but then I see the driver in front get flashed so slam the brakes but still get flashed!! What the fuck WHY THE HELL DO WE HAVE TO DO 40MPH AT MIDNIGHT WITH NO TRAFFIC OR LANE CLOSURES??? Fucking hell |

So the gantry cameras cannot give you a ticket if the speed limit signs are off, they may flash (perhaps to start rumours like this one), but no prosecution can take place. Same as roadside GATSO rear facing speed cameras will still flash at oncoming speeding cars, but they are only Type Approved to be used as evidence in the one direction, i.e. away from them. Me, a steady 90 (85 GPS) if traffic permits, and watch out for 'unmarked' secret volvos with two men with moustaches in. Last edited by doughboy; 07-11-2013 at 05:38 AM.. |

On motorways I stick the cruise control on at 70 and do my best to resist nudging the accelerator. It's not worth the hastle for me to get somewhere slightly quicker and with the cost of fuel it saves me a few quid as well.
