As far as I know, Evotech from Germany modifies the stock DP's and will charge you 1000$ for this.
They don't weld a straight pipe into your stock DP, they only remove the cat.

You can definitly do it by yourself. But I would recommend to do it properly.

It will give you sine advantages.. used stock DP's are quite cheap. They will fit nicely and do have a double wall which protects you against heat.
But not sure how they sound.

Having no cats is going to give you gains and will make it sound different. I'm not sure how much difference it would be compared to a set of actual catless downpipes. why would you want to do that because if you cut the cats out it will throw codes and what if you need a turbo replacement for wastegate rattle? You wouldnt have a way to put your car back to stock because you cut the cats out of yours...just my 2cents

with ebay downpipes like raceland or obx(<250), or alternatives like bms or vrsf(<400), downpipes are cheap enough to where if you do want to remove/gut your cats, itll probably cost you more then getting new pipes all together.
